Everytime I went into the SPCA looking for a dog, the staff that helped me were very friendly and very knowledgeable. I ended up adopting from another shelter because I fell in love with my dog but I would hands down recommend this shelter to anyone in the New Orleans area.

Well the government has to put them someplace. As others have said thank you Katrina to force them into a decent place. Clearly the people at the top didn't care enough to do anything for years.

These animal should have been in a much better place years ago. They are now only because of Katrina. The lazy Board should have done the move years ago.

Kudos to LASPCA for the recovery they have made. They are now a leader in the animal welfare movement especially when it comes to disaster preparedness. They were part the first of its kind real world scenerio where animals were part of the disaster training. Folks being lifted from buildings with their animals, pet friendly evacuation shelters, and other procedures that included the safe evacuation of animals. \r\n\r\nThere is still so much more to do in LA and LASPCA is and can be a leader in improving shelters across the state.

    Pros

New shelter, national attention, leader in Louisiana

    Cons

    lots more to do
