    by: JK2152

That video with the Pit Bull above, well for a split second,I was in it. That's because I rescued her. You may not reconize me because I was in my uniform. I hope she gets adopted soon.

    Cons

    nothing bad!

  • 2. excellent video

    by: djes7770

I love this shelter for the effort they are making to help homeless pit bulls. I have never been to this facility but I love the video they made for the Zootoo makeover contest and am glad they made it into the top ten. I think their program to train and help socialize pit bulls who come to them is excellent and could serve as an example to other shelters on how to help this sadly misunderstood breed. Thanks for all you do, Liberty Humane Society, and hope your involvement in the Zootoo contest has been a positive experience for your shelter.

  • 4. We need to remember who is the creator of creation~~~GOD~~He wayches all..He gave the animals hearts, blood, joy, pain...Like He did His son Jesus. We care for animals, like they care for us~~~In GOD's LOVE~~

    by: Delilicious

I vote for this facillity. I see they are in need to care for all animals. I think their heart is in the right place. I think everyone in need of shelters should get a full grant for the lives and the sake of animals that so need GOD's LOVE~~In the abyss of their hurt and pain...GOD reaches down and shares all pain..He knows they need this place. This is my vote....And I hope, that when they receive it...Surely they will be honest enough to put it in full force for the sake of the animals...I wouldn't be surprised if these animals were put here in the name of Jesus...that they are angels...To test our love in this world...The Lord is testing....He watches all. Delia :)

    Pros

    Helping the needy~~~

    Cons

They need help, just to help the animals....Its all PRO~~

  • 5. shelter makeover

    by: maprilb

Liberty animal shelter has a dedicated staff who only want to help animals in need and show them the love and respect that so many dogs and cats deserve. With the help of the makeover winnings so much more can be accomplished. I have seen with my own eye's the love and attention given to some of the most neediest animals through out the years but so much more could be done. Improvements are happening all the time but it could be so much quicker with the bonus of winning. The dedicated staff will continue to save and help all the defenseless dogs and cats no matter what but I know they are deserving of the goals of winning. Thank-you!

    Pros

winning can really add needed help

    Cons

Shelter will go on as is and do what it can

This is a dedicated group that could truly benefit from a cash infusion from the shelter makeover contest. They provide a great service to the community and have the desire to do more. Great job rehabilitating many tough cases.

  • 7. LHS NEEDS TO WIN!!!!

    by: TracieMB

LHS deserves to win this makeover for so many reasons. Jersey City can be a tough place to live, and the staff works so hard at trying to place many breeds that otherwise get a bad AND FALSE reputation. I love my pit, who is an absolute sweetheart! GO LHS! BEST WISHES! SAVE THESE DOGS!!!

    Pros

Caring Staff...Gives homes to hard to adopt breeds. Very appreciative of donations.

    Cons

    Unfortunately low on funding

  • 8. Help with a pet loss at Liberty

    by: kathleenshabaan

Late last year I lost my beloved Darrien dog to cancer. I had her ten years. I could not handle the loss on my own. I had no control over my emotions and needed help coping. I searched the Web for a local bereavement group. At that time I did not know that Liberty had one. I met with Elise who is a licensed Therapist who is trained in pet loss. She was able to help me cope with my pain and guilty feelings, and recommended a helpful book. She was very understanding and professional. She explained why pet loss is different from human loss and why it hurts so much more for some of us than others. This has helped me a great deal, and I thank her every day.

    Pros

    Very sympathetic and knowledgeable staff

    Cons

    needs a larger facility

  • 9. An island of kindness overlooking Lady Liberty

    by: HobokenMartha

I have walked dogs here, I have lectured here (I am a pet book author), and I have pointed people to dogs in need of a new home. LHS runs fantastic events and promotes pitbull kindness awareness. It is a wonderful place.

    Cons

A little hard to find if you don't know Jersey City

  • 10. Best shelter

    by: Bettina8

I have known about this shelter for over 7 years now and I have adopted two very loving cats, whereof one kitty 5 years ago and one adult cat 2 months ago. I have to say the staff working in there is the most knowledgeable and accommodating to the public, new owners to be and the loving cats and dogs. This shelter only needs more space and I hope from the bottom of my heart that they win the makeover...Whoohoo!!! Bettina R.

    Pros

This shelter has the best staff taking care of their animals!

    Cons

    This shelter needs more space!!!

  • 11. Great Shelter

    by: pinupshoes

I am a former volunteer at the shelter. I moved out of NJ and was not able to keep volunteering there and I miss it. There were a great group of really dedicated volunteers and staff members when I was going there. You can tell that everyone really cares about the animals there. they are always coming up with new programs and ways to get out into the community. I hope they win the shelter make over!!! Good luck!!

    Pros

They do a great job and provide a wonderful service to the homeless animals in the area

    Cons

They ae located in an out of te way area

  • 12. Hard working staff

    by: Evangelique

We got our dog Oreo from Liberty a year ago. He was there about 3 months before we adopted him. He was very well taken care of, and loved by all. Every time I visit I find people who truly love the animals and do their best to care for them in the space they are given. It's a good shelter but it could use help making it a more functional place.

    Pros

    Loving staff and volunteers

    Cons

    Cramped space

  • 13. Incredibly helpful

  • 14. Dedication goes along way

    by: vnordberg

Unfortunately I find a lot of kittens on the street. I brought some kittens to the shelter in May of 2008. The staff were great. I was able to call back and check that the kittens were adopted. I also admire their holistic approach to helping pets, the public, and strays. They have a spay/neuter program, educational programs, and many more effective programs. In an area with soo many needs and "dark spots", the volunteers and staff at Liberty Humane Society sparkle.

    Pros

    The staff

    Cons

  • 15. Pit Bull Friendly

    by: KennedysMom

This place in my opinion is a great place because of their policy to accept the Pit Bull breed into their facility.

    Pros

They are a Pit Bull friendly safe haven.

    Cons

They are so far away from me

  • 16. Our Furry Family

    by: effy7

Our family got involved with LSC when my daughter was in 3rd grade and wanted a kitten. After adopting Tasha, we began volunteering in the cat room. Now, at 14, my daughter not only volunteers on her days off from school, but regularly fosters tiny infirm or unsocialized kittens, or whatever dog that might need a weekend in a real house. As the place where all Jersey City's stray animal population is brought, LHS plays an enormous part in the city's quality of life. Particularly now during these difficult financial times, when so many people are relinquishing their animals - and in some pretty inhumane ways - LHS is more burdened than ever. And yet, you walk in there, and the staff is always happy to show the ever-burgeoning crop of pit bulls and cats. They seem not to flinch at any animal that walks, slithers or flies in the door - chickens or guinea pigs, South African Boerboels that have attacked a man, boa constrictors left in a box outside the door. Whatever animal, it gets nurtured, and it gets a home.

    Pros

    Caring staff, extensive volunteer program

    Cons

Inner city shelter, lots of pitbulls that people are biased against

  • 17. My experience with Liberty Animal Shelter

    by: Truhart

Liberty Animal Shelter is an enormous asset to the community it serves. They face a huge challenge, as a small privately funded shelter, to answer the needs of a large urban population. They could do so much more if they could expand their facilities onto the vacant land next to the current building. The people I've met who're involved with this shelter have all impressed me with their committment, passion and dedication. Their fund-raising efforts are tireless and the community outreach applaudable. Even though I live in neighboring town, (which does not have it's own shelter), they responded to my plea for help when my rescue dog failed to respond to my efforts to rehabilitate her, and put me in touch with a trainer behaviorist. When it became apparent that she was brain-damaged and unlikely to be safe around others (she had bit 9 people in the short time I had her), they were there for me when I had to euthanize her. Their compassion and counseling really made a difference during that heart-wrenching ordeal. (Thank you Aurora and Brian). If I adopt again, when the time is right, I wlll look to adopt from Liberty. They really deserve this make-over and will make the most of the opportunity to leap ahead to the next challenges. I so hope they win! Christi Love

  • 18. where i found the best puppy!

    by: prindfly

Thanks to Liberty Humane, I now am the mom to the smartest, cutest, well behaved pitt bull! My boyfriend and I searched for weeks looking for our "perfect" puppy. And Brian and the rest of the staff @ Liberty brought us to her. Roxie is now 8 months old and is the most obedient and affectionate puppy I've ever met. The facility was spotless, the staff curtious and the animals healthy. They have no idea how happy they made my family and my dog carmine, who was in need of a best friend of his own.

    Pros

    great friendly staff

    Cons

I have adopted my lab/pitbull mix from liberty 6 yrs ago. Prince is an excellent dog..loves the world.the world is a great place for Prince. We have 5 cats..2 from a local shelter.the otheres found. Liberty is a great shelter and does a great job. Although Prince is the greatest dog in the world to us, he did develop epilepsy...Severe gran mal seizures. His diagonis cost us quite a bundle. He is under 2 rxs which keep him seizure free. The point of this is that pets are a responsibility and commitment..they become part of your family.

  • 20. Wonderful Organization

    by: nanettejw

While I must admit I haven't actually visited this organization - from the postings of people that have - and the postings from the people that work there - it sounds like a wonderful, hardworking organization. They truly seem committed to serving their community and are working hard to reduce the number of animals that are killed in their community with their spay/neuter services. Their TNR program is to be commended - I just wish more shelters were as proactive as this shelter seems. I wish them all the luck and voting points within the Zootoo contest. Keep up the good work and who knows maybe other shelters can learn from your example.

    Pros

    They are special

    Cons

    Not enough shelters like them

  • 21. My experience adopting from LHS

    by: Samson123

My family saw a English Mastiff (Xerces) on Petfinder in the spring of 2008. We called LHS on a Monday to inquire his availability. The women on the phone informed us that Xerces was still at the shelter, but on medical hold due to kennel cough and pending surgery to neuter him. She gave a history of how this big beautiful dog ended up in the shelter. Long story short...Family up and left everything. Xerces was tied outside without food/water and shelter. I told her a little about my family, what type of dog were were looking for, and that we were coming from the country in Pa. She was very helpful in giving me all the information needed to apply for adoption. I also made arrangements to drive out to NJ to see Xerces that Friday. The Family was excited for a road trip. We contacted the school to inform our Daughters will be visiting a animal shelter and to please excuse their absence. My first thought of the building from the outside was "It is small". We walked through the door and was greeted by friendly staff members. I handed my paperwork to a staff member while my girls petted a friendly dog hanging out in the small office filled with paperwork. Another staff member escorted us to the kennel area were we waited for a few minutes. The staff was very busy taking dogs outside to run and cleaning cages. The interior of the building was dark and old. There was limited storage and working stations. Despite the gloomy feel of the room, Dogs large and small seemed happy. I remember a little old min pin in a green sweater. I watched the staff get him out. They treated him like any loving pet owner would treat their fur babies. Lots of pits and pit crosses bouncing with energy waiting for their turn for a run. So many dogs waiting for a loving home while limited staff bustle tending to all their needs. They asked us to enter a viewing room (which had another dog in it). After placing the pit into another room, they brought Xerces in. Boy...what a big dog!! They answered all our questions and concerns. Xerces was wonderful with the girls. I wanted to make sure he was good with cats. The staff member allowed us to take him to the cat room to see his behavior. Two ladies were busy tending to all the kitties. He was curious, but nothing alarming. The staff member was patient and allowed all the time we needed to decide if Xerces was what we were looking for. They took Xerces while we finished paperwork. Not only did they neuter and vaccinate Xerces, but they gave a 5 lb bag of dog food, remaining antibotics, and a 1 month pet insurance. All of this in exchange for a $175 adoption fee. We gave extra as a donation. They brought Xerces out and told us to call with any questions or concerns. LHS did a wonderful job in preparing Xerces for a new beginning. The hard work was paid off when Xerces walked out the door to start a new life. There was plenty of conversation during the ride home. The first 1/2 hr was about the shelter. Yes it was small, dark, cluttered, and old. The staff members brought love, compassion, patients, and loyality to that little run down building. Most of the conversation was about choosing a new name for Xerces. We must have listed a 100 names. My husband wanted to call him Bitsy. 5 minutes from home I thought of Samson. Everyone agreed! I called LHS regarding the pet insurance and the name change. They were very friendly and helpful. I informed them of the vet appointment in which they replied that if I need anything or have concerns to please call them. What a wonderful feeling to know the support from the shelter does not end the moment you walk out the door. I have seen plenty of shelters in my life. Some much nicer in appearance than LHS. There is only one thing that separates LHS from the other shelters and that is the Staff Members. Their dedication and hard work fills that little old building with hope. Hope seen by all the wagging tails awaiting a forever home. I always recommend LHS to individuals looking to adopt. The dedicated staff do their best to give accurate information regarding the pet (health, temperament, activity level) to ensure a good match. The support the shelter gives to the adopter is wonderful. I rated the cleanliness as a 3 star. This is due to the limited space resulting a clutter appearance of paperwork and supplies to run the facility. This is to no fault of their own. They are doing the best they can with what they have. The staff was very busy ensure the cages were clean and the animals were comfortable. I have bookmarked LHS website and check in from time to time. LHS will be the first place I look for a new pet in the future. For now, my family will enjoy Samson. Thank you LHS for all your hard work! Samson is very greatful!

    by: israelnyc

I found a stray in my backyard, obviously someone's pet that was lost or abandoned - hungry and scared. We share a small apartment with two rescued cats, so we couldn't take her in. We took her to Liberty Humane Society and they couldn't have made it easier. We have total trust that she's in the best of hands.

    Pros

    people are friendly, great vibe

    Cons

could have a bigger facility-there's a big need in this area

  • 23. The Center that Does

    by: hannipabi

The center that does and the Center that Could - Liberty Humane Society (LHS) always takes in animals, not wanting to refuse them. Staff and volunteeers will accomodate animals, taking care of yet one more - or two! The effort and dedication is intense and sincere. All levels of staffing is driven and profesional. We respect each other, and we are all vested in the animals. The problems and challenges are in addition to those in our own lives of business, careers and families, however we are mindful of the dependence of these innocent animals upon us. I am so fortunate to have found the Liberty Humane Society.

    Pros

    Caring Staff & Volunteers

    Cons

    Lacking in Space & Design

  • 24. This place rocks

    by: adelaidesmom

The staff is welcoming, knowledgeable and really cares about the welfare of each animal that comes to LHS. Many staff and board members regularly foster to help the animals find their forever home. Adoptions have improved immeasurably in the last few years, thanks to the education programs and the place is looking great, all things considered. It still has a way to go, but that will happen!

    Pros

great staff, caring people, excellent programs

    Cons

    the facility needs some help

  • 25. Liberty Humane Society is a Great Place

The first time I went to this shelter, after seeing a few other poor ones, I was really excited because I had finally found a place where animals were given wonderful treatment and so much love and affection. It was wonderful to see the interaction and how well the staff understood each animal in there and gave special attention. Wonderful shelter. If you have not yet been here I recommend that you take a look.

Friendly staff, good care and love for the animals

  • 27. LHS is the best

    by: emilyaugust

Liberty Humane Society is on the corner of a large public park in Jersey City, close enough to public transportation, and just off the Turnpike exit. Every time I have visited the shelter to help take photos (over the summer), there were tons of volunteers around, talking to potential adoptive parents, educating each other on the current conditions of each pet, and accepting the public with a friendly and positive attitude. I especially love the cat room upstairs because some of the cats that have earned the privilege (and that have friendly personalities) are free to walk around and greet people under the careful supervision of a volunteer. They have some old timers in there that have been around for a long time and they do their best to show the kitties love and support. Having a rescue cat myself, I know this is an important role. The shelter marks the dog cages with a system that lets you know which dogs are adoptable and which have not been approved for adoption yet. From my observation, they are very organized with cleaning, feeding, and care, enabling volunteers to easily come and walk dogs according to their abilities. Because of the location of this shelter, they tend to get a lot of pits and they provide information to people about proper training for these misjudged pets. I think this is an important role for the shelter to play because of the overabundance of bad pet owners in the larger, very broad Jersey City community (fighting dogs, protection, gang activity). Its a hard battle to fight, and I'm glad LHS is there to fight it. I have also seen that members of the community come to the office to ask questions and advice, despite this not being a medical clinic. I've seen the staff handle those inquiries with tact and care, giving referrals when possible, and genuinely being a support system to pet owners.

    Pros

caring staff, community support, creative planning, friendly

    Cons

    shelter needs upgrades

  • 28. Wonderful Staff, Wonderful animals.

    by: mzztwinkletoes

My husband and I were putting off going to a shelter as we had always thought shelters would be dreary places, and the animals might not be kept in good conditions. But boy we were surprised! We can see that the animals are happy. They are loved by the staff. In general taken good care. We go there every once in a while. My husband and I adore cats, and we end up spending time with them. Everytime any cat was out on the floor, it would always go over to the staff to get a scratch or two and a rub or two.

    Pros

Take such good care of the animals, Very clean, very friendly

  • 29. Steps up when the city doesn't

    by: KeepYourWeekend

In recent months, Liberty Humane Society has come to the rescue of many animals in the Jersey City area. I'm sure there are many people who could go into greater details, but from my limited knowledge here is an overview of how great they are. When the local city run shelter (not Liberty) was found to do be doing terrible, unspeakable acts to animals, Including leaving animals to rot in their facility, Liberty stepped up and RESCUED these poor creatures from the other horrible shelter. Most recently, when city paid officials from Animal Control where found to be picking up lost pet cats and leaving them at a local inner-city park, Liberty once again took in these thrown out pets, and are currently caring for them. They always step up when our city does not.

    Pros

    clean, friendly staff

    Cons

    They need more space

    by: erough

Liberty Humane Society is a great shelter in Jersey City, NJ. A co-worker of mine volunteers there on a weekly basis and we have attending some of the LHS events, like Bark in the Park last year. It is great event for dog owners. I was amazed when my co-worker was telling me about all the animals and how many of the names she knows, and she said, that the people in the cat room know every single cats name and personality! I did not believe it until I went there, and she was right. We are thinking about getting a second cat and they knew exactly how to match up with our existing cat!!

  • 37. A Welcoming, Cheery Place of Hope

    by: Sophinn

I have volunteered at several different shelters before, and I have never encountered a group of more caring, selfless, friendly staff members than at the Librety Humane Society in Jersey City. When I first walked in, I expected the environment to be somewhat depressing, and the people there to be efficient yet brisk and business-like. Not so at LHS! Volunteers are welcomed and made to feel part of the team. They'll let us know which dogs are higher energy and need more walks, which dogs can be walked together, and have helped me get dogs in and out of cages if I'm struggling. Even though all I do to this point is come in and walk/jog with the dogs, I feel as if the small contribution I make is appreciated. Everyone is just so friendly and helpful, I am constantly gushing about this place and recruiting my friends to volunteer. The staff members and other volunteers work tirelessly, making sure the cages are cleaned, laundry is done, new animals are temperament-tested, potential adopters are screened, each cat and dog has their own supply of treats and toys...I could go on and on. They truly care and pay attention to each and every animal they rescue, knowing their personalities and which adopters would make a perfect match. They're constantly thinking up new and inventive fundraisers for the animals, and provide obedience training to dogs who don't know the first thing about walking on a leash! With a little bit more room, hopefully with the help of Shelter Makeover II, the sky's the limit for LHS.

    Pros

Friendly, knowledgable, super-caring staff and volunteers

    Cons

    Not enough space!

i've been living in jersey city for the past 10 years with my wonderful husband who was born & raised in jc "chill town":) 2 years ago we decided to buy a house in the neighborhood where LHS is located. we have great neighbors & love our home. the neighborhood does have pockets that need improvement but like downtown, in time, it will change for the better. there is definately an issue here with pitbulls falling into the wrong hands for the wrong reasons. you see certain dogs with their owners & that little voice in the back of your head tells you something is wrong. unfortunately, nothing can be done on suspicion. i recently started stopping in LHS to walk a few dogs & you can't help but notice all the pitbulls. although i've never had a pitbull, i've grown an interest in their wellbeing since living here. LHS is a godsend in this neighborhood. they do an awesome job in caring for the bully breed that has a bad rep because of bad people. so hats off to LHS & all its wonderful staff & volunteers that care for all the animals that happen to visit on there way to their forever homes. :)

    Pros

  • 39. Wonderful place in need of a makeover!

    by: caitlinella

I have been volunteering at LHS since October. In that time, I have seen many cats and dogs go to wonderful homes. I have also seen the time and care that the shelter staff, the managers and volunteers put into every task. Several volunteers have made it their mission to train the shelter dogs. Many of the dogs are clicker trained and know basic commands. I have seen wild tornadoes be turned into lap dogs. As a volunteer, I have seen first-hand that the animals here are spoiled beyond belief by the care of the staff and volunteers who come in to go on walks or to just cuddle. The staff does their best to sterilize the animals' living environments, and I have gotten on all fours on many occasions to scrub kennels and bowls. The facilities at the shelter are literally crumbling, however. A recent wind storm knocked over one of the exterior walls of the complex, leaving the shelter vulnerable. Nearly every piece of equipment used in the upkeep up the shelter needs to be replaced - from sinks to washing machines. This shelter facility is in desperate need of an upgrade. The community helps as much as it can, but with the volume of animals coming and going, LHS is stretching the limits of what it can do in its current space.

    Pros

Wonderful staff who care about their animals and about the community.

    Cons

The facilities are in desperate need of an upgrade.

The location of this facility is within easy reach of the turnpike. Several trips were made to ensure we were adopting the right dog for our family. Each time we arrived different staffers and volunteers were on hand to greet us and supply more information concerning our future pet. Plus the fact that specific people were interested in a pet was past on. We were made to feel very comfortable at the shelter both with conversation and questions answered.

    Pros

Staff was very knowledgeable about the breed and the individual dog being adopted.

    Cons

Small, cramped facility staffed by caring individuals

    by: Starielle

My husband and I started volunteering over the summer to foster when we can. I have never met a more caring and dedicated staff. They make each and every animal there feel welcome and wanted. They have answered every question I have had (and there have been lots) without ever making me feel that it was a problem. I can't thank them enough for the opportunity they have given us to help the little bit that we do.

    Pros

    Clean, very helpful staff

  • 48. LHS..the place to go

    by: FatCatRudy

Liberty Humane Society is the only place I would consider adopting any animal from. The staff is WONDERFUL! I always feel welcome, whether I am bringing in a few newspapers or some kitty treats. Other shelters I have gone to in the past with hopes of adopting have been thwarted by some seriously unfriendly staff..I can't say enough nice things about my experiences at LHS. We have 4 amazing cats thanks to them!!!

    Pros

    staff

    Cons

    need more room

  • 49. Liberty Humane Does A Wonderful Job!

    by: Huskyloves

Liberty Humane and it's staff has done a remarkable job in helping the neediest pets in Jersey City find loving homes, all on a shoestring budget and the huge hearts of their volunteers.

    Pros

They don't have a big enough budget

    Cons

But they do wonders with what they have!

  • 50. Yes!

    by: karlthepianist

I can't begin to describe the amount of love and joy that people have shown Nico, our new dog from Liberty. Everyone knew who he was and obviously enjoyed spending time with him. If Liberty offers that kind of attention to all the animals that come their way, especially given the fact that the other big shelter in Jersey City has had animals confiscated from them multiple times over the last few years, they definitely deserve a million dollars.

    Pros

    Where we got Nico from

    Cons

    None as of yet

  • 51. Awesome place- great people and pets!

  • 52. Great staff, great animals, great location

    by: apitadoptedme

My first trip to Liberty Humane Society was back in May 2008. Upon entry, I was greeted by some kind folks in their main office. I signed in the visitor log and made my way into the dog kennel where I was greeted by a nice man who I later learned was a volunteer. He took me out with a few pit bulls I had seen on Petfinder and Adopt a Pet. There was no pressure and a very friendly vibe. The animals were well kept in cages with toys and rawhides. The atmosphere was much more relaxing than Bergen County Animal Shelter. Every other week or so I visited the shelter to look at more dogs. My first trip to the cattery proved to be rewarding. All of the cats were well cared for, some even on the floor free-roaming. Over the past months, I've been quite a regular at the shelter. Since then, every animal is now provided with bedding, chew toys, tennis balls, rawhides, and other comfort items. The volunteers and staff take extremely well care of these animals. They also do adoption events, outdoor events such as Bark in the Park at Liberty State Park, and most of the major pet expos including Madison Square Garden and the Meadowlands Pet Expo. I have learned a lot through my visits to Liberty Humane Society. They have a program for Pit Bulls called BADDogs. They train Pit Bulls their basic commands and housebreaking. All dogs and cats are vaccinated, dewormed, and spayed/neutered before leaving the shelter for their forever homes. The staff are more than helpful in the adoption process. They are also helpful in informing potential adopters in regards to the demeanor and behavior of their animals. Staff members spend extra time with needy animals and provide more than the basic care when an animal is in need of time outside of the shelter. The facility, as you've probably read, is located in an old garage. While there's not a lot of space, they make the best of the situation. Every adoptable animal is given the chance to be adopted. Unlike some of the other shelters, the animals at Liberty Humane Society are not on a timeline. The volunteer program is very adequate and with the great amount of donations, this shelter has continued to survive in Jersey City where they handle thousands of animals per year. With the right renovations and expansions, this shelter will strive far into the future.

    Pros

Easy to get to, Staff is knowledgeable and friendly

    Cons

    In dire need of renovation/expansion

  • 53. A Special Place

    by: realcooltime

I can't say enough good things about Liberty. I adopted my cat, Buddy, from there last June and was amazed at how clean and well-fed the cats and dogs were considering the limited amount of space that Liberty has to work with. Every few weeks I stop by and donate food - I wish I could do more. The staff are wonderful and treat the animals with tender loving care. It's truly the most humane shelter I've ever seen. I'd like nothing more than to see Liberty get a brand-new space that's roomier for the animals and easier for the staff to get around in. God bless each and every one of the Liberty staff. They're angels looking after the silent victims of our society. And I would strongly advocate adoption as a way to get a new pet. I've had cats all my life, and they've always been rescues off the street. This is the first time I've tried adoption, and I'm so glad I did. These little guys depend on us for everything, they ask for so little, and give all their love in return.

    Pros

Dedicated staff, animals kept clean, healthy, and well-fed.

    Cons

They could use a more spacious and effective building.

  • 54. 26 pets adopted in 2009

    by: lgiancola

I've just read that LHS has had 26 animals adopted since the beginning of 2009! Considering this is only the 8th of January, that's an amazing number! I have had the privilege of fostering for LHS and can honestly say that whenever I've had a problem with a kitten or they needed a vet appointment, the staff at LHS were extremely helpful and efficient. It can't be easy working in a shelter, looking at the sad and confused faces of animals as their so-called "family" leaves them behind. And the decision to put an animal down because of it being so sick or unadoptable must be heartbreaking. Somedays you must just have to do the best you can, and even that isn't enough. The volunteer staff is wonderful and very dedicated. It's great to work with people who are so committed to the animals.

    Pros

    Just about everything

    Cons

    Need a bigger cat area

  • 55. Great place, Great people

I used to volunteer here, until I moved. They have a dedicated staff, all of whom go above and beyond to put the animals’ needs first. I so enjoyed being part of such a dedicated team. I wish them all the best and continue to support them in whatever way possible from my new location.

    Pros

People who care about the animals

    Cons

    unfortunately too many unwanted pets

  • 56. I love Liberty

    by: halayn

This team has worked very hard to bring the shelter to where it is today. Jersey City is a very rough place and there is a lot of need for this facility. They really have their work cut out for them.\n\nI got my toy poodle from this shelter. What a find! I've had him now for several years and he means so much to me. And his sister (a pit bull) loves him too. \n\nI will definitely adopt from here again, when the time comes. I tell everyone I meet at the parks to visit the shelter. \n\nThey can use all the volunteers they can get!\n

    Pros

    love for the animals

    Cons

they can definitely use a makeover!!!

  • 57. Professional, Clean, knowledgle and caring

I was blown away when I came into the shelter and saw that the people that work in the cat room know the name and personality of each and every cat! It is amazing! The cats are treated so well!! And then, when you are downstairs in the dog area, it was just remodeled. It looks great! \n\nThey have a wonderful staff, board, and volunteers! They animals are treated so well, and there are so many successful adoptions. It is truly a great shelter! I know a few animals that were adopted from there and they are doing great in their new homes, and this happened all because of LHS!

LHS is a very difficult shelter to work in. Staff work diligently every day to offer compassionate care to their animals. The numbers of animals entering the system each day is staggering and public awareness of pet overpopulation needs to conveyed as often as possible.

  • 63. This Is My Home

    by: Sweets

What can I say without sounding too biased? After all, I live at Liberty Humane Society.\n\nThese wonderful people took me in when the humans who were supposed to look after me took more interest in how many puppies I could have than in my own health. Not only have they helped me, they've helped some of the kids.\n\nWhen I first came here, I didn't trust anyone. I needed to always watch my back and keep my guard up. Now I have a family that I can trust and that keeps me safe - although I will do my best to protect them if the need arises. I even will tolerate the company of some other dogs now and again. That wasn't always the case.\n\nWhat LHS may lack in appearance or state-of-the-art amenities, they more than make up for in heart and love. I am happy to see the staff and volunteers every morning when they come back from their homes and start their day of taking care of all of us.\n\nLHS has all sorts of dogs and cats that are looking for good homes. Come by, say hi to me if you like, and then go and find someone to look after you. The staff and volunteers will do their best to find the right fit for your family and you.

    Pros

Anyone in the Hudson County area, please donate to the Liberty Human Society. They are a great shelter and they need SO much help! I love them and donate at least twice a year.

    Pros

    No-kill, beautiful animals

    Cons

Not enough funding, odd layout of shelter, not enough space

  • 65. Jersey City's Finest

    by: CitySue

There are so many things I would love to say but don't have the space or eloquence. This group of people work their butts off for the animals with a very modest amount of space and money. If they could win this contest and expand, Hudson County would benefit. The neighboring communities are in desperate need of animal sheltering services, so the goal is not just to help Jersey City but all of Hudson County.

    Pros

Doing so much with so little

    Cons

    Need more space

  • 66. Impressed with the passion of the staff

    by: BShack

I work with an impound facility as a volunteer in rural Virginia. Frequently, we are able to take puppies to New Jersey to find them homes with other rescues in the area. Our coordinator volunteered for several years at Liberty and wanted me to visit, to get a different perspective on shelters. I was impressed with the introspective detailed notes written on the cage cards of the dogs who were available, and came away feeling good about what the folks at Liberty are doing.

    Pros

    Knowledgeable, friendly staff

    Cons

    Small facility

  • 67. A big thank you to the Liberty Humane Society!

    by: Jade223

I have volunteering at the Liberty Humane society for about a month and my experience has been nothing short of pleasurable. The staff and other volunteers were so welcoming and I instantly felt at ease. I fostered an Affenpinscer Mix for about two weeks. Today, November 30, 2008, I adopted that dog. His name is Mookie and he is about 2 and 1/2. The adoption process was quick and simple. Mookie has become part of our family. I am so thankful that I met him because he has brought such joy into my life and I thank the Liberty Humane Society for keeping him safe and healthy.

    Pros

Helpful and welcoming staff and volunteers.

    Cons

The shelter is full of mostly larger dogs that are hard for me to walk.

  • 68. Progressive and caring

    by: BijouFrise

I joined up with this crew many years ago because of the positive energy found at this shelter. The people who run the shelter and volunteer are progressive open minded people with big hearts. Also, to all the single men out there, if you want to meet some good looking women from their 20s to their 50s, come volunteer!

    by: tubby3pug

I found a stray pitbull on father's day of this year. She followed me and my husband home while we were walking our dogs. We looked for her owner but no vets where open so we took her to the local shelter. They were very nice and kept me updated about her progress. I gave her the name Lily. I visited her several times. Then she suprised everyone wiht a litter of pups! The shelter helped her find a placement with a great rescue group.\r\n\r\nWith 6 dogs and 3 cats of my own and a full time job I dont always have much time to go to the shelter but Ive been able to volunteer at several events. I can see the shelter staff and volunteers love the animals. I really pray that the shelter wins this contest.

  • 75. Doing wonders with what they have

    by: LilyK

I started volunteering at Liberty Humane over 3 years ago with my husband. Over the course of this period we have seen the number of animals they take in grow along with the number of adoptions they do. The staff is always looking for ways to provide more comfort to the animals.\n\nI hope LHS wins the Zootoo contest so that we can provide better services to the animals that come into our care and to Jersey City. We are the "city pound" and are thus required to take in all the animals that animal control brings us. If we win, I think we can reach more people in Jersey City and, hopefully provide more education about responsible pet ownership.

    Pros

    Staff, volunteers

    Cons

Facility is in need of updating

  • 76. Animals win at LHS

    by: tigerpawshaw

Kinda like the '86 Mets - a scrappy team with a big heart - underpayed, lacking manpower and hobbled by injuries yet the talent and sense of purpose makes the LHS team a winner.\n\nEvery time I've gone down there I've come out knowing that somehow they, and we, can make a difference. It is absolutely imperative that an urban center like Jersey City has a top notch shelter and animal resource, even if just for abandoned animals, alone. Sadly, that's just the tip of the iceburg. \n\nI was grateful to be able to attend a LHS sponsored TNR workshop when the cats in my neighborhood were reaching critical mass. Where else can you go to find for this stuff?\n\nMore power to them!

    Pros

A great resource for us all.

    Cons

    Underfunded, underbuilt and understaffed.

  • 77. Great shelter!

    by: Margarel

This little shelter tries so hard to do the best with what they have which is not a lot. They have a large pit bull population and try very hard to properly socialize them and get them adopted. They need more space and more donations and really need to win this make over. They have a very caring and dedicated staff and it would mean so much to them and the animals if they won. Can't say enough good things about LHS!

    Pros

    Caring staff

    Cons

    Needs more space and money!

  • 78. Doing a great job with not a lot of money

    by: bnodoubt

I know I"m a little bias because I work at LHS but I have to say there is no other place like LHS. We are doing so much in such a small space. Our building was never meant to be an animal shelter. It's a converted municipal garage. I can't even begin to imagine what we could do with a million dollars. I love that LHS gives back to the community - free food for people that can't afford to feed their pets, low cost spay/neuter, Trap, Neuter, Release. These are all things many other shelters don't offer. We could do so much more if we win this contest! I'm proud to say I'm an employee of LHS!

    Pros

    Gives back to the community

    Cons

    Not enough space

  • 79. LHS!!

    by: AnimalLover4ever31

I think Liberty Humane is GREAT! I do not just say this b/c I work there, I really feel this way. I visited the shelter before I started working there, when I had to get my cat spayed and the staff was very nice to me and my cat was well taken care of. I can see first hand how the shelter works and the animals are the main concern. We make sure that they are comfortable , socailized and cared for while they are here with us. I catch myself spending more than enough time with them sometimes when I should be doing other things, but I know they need that. They need one on one time with someone who just wants to see them happy. The volunteers at the shelter are great too. So many of them make sure the cats & dogs are happy, walked, groomed, bathed & so much more. They are such a big help to the shelter. \r\nI think Liberty Humane Society is wonderful!!

We took the light rail down to the shelter, which was very convienent. They took out a bunch of cats for us to hold and were honest when it come to the ones that unfortunately might not make the best pets. They were so nice in fact they let us borrow a real hard plastic cat carrier because we were using the light rail. They said just bring it back when you can, which really blew us away. We will be returning it this weekend, it has been useful in bringing our new addition to the vet this week.\nCan't say enough nice things about them.

My girlfriend and I have been volunteering since the summer, and we both think this place is great! It is close by in Jersey City, and they are really making the best of the old garage. The construction is coming along and looks great! Allison, the volunteer coordinator, does a great job motivating and getting the volunteers involved. John H. has been doing a great job motivating the volunteers on zootoo as well. They really care about the well being of all the dogs, puppies, kittens, and cats that find their way to the shelter!!!

  • 93. Caring Shelter

    by: Thaddeus

No one likes to think of an animal in a shelter. Every dog and cat should have a home and a loving family. But, that is not the reality. There are many times when an animal has to spend time in a shelter - especially when they are rescued from a neglectful situation - until such time as they find a new home.\r\n\r\nIf they find their way to Liberty Humane Society, they will be cared for by loving, knowledgeable staff and volunteers. They will be safe and looked after.

    Pros

    Caring staff and volunteers

    by: salsaben

The staff here were really helpful with introducing me to TNR when I discovered some feral cats in the area around my new place when I first moved to Jersey City a few years ago. They loaned me the humane trap to catch the cats and spayed/neutered the ones I caught for a low fee. The fact that LHS participates in TNR is great as not all shelters do.

    by: jaswinder

my Husband and i volunteer at LHS. I have to be honest though i have not done any volunteer work for the past year or so because of other commitments. however we have volunteered at events in the neighbourhood, walked dogs at the shelter and fostered 4 dogs all of whom are in their forever homes. All thru the staff has been wonderful esp. when we first started fostering.\r\nI wish the community would do more to encourage more people to adopt dogs from shelters rather than buy...but thats a whole other story.\r\n

    Great shelter with friendly staff

  • 96. I heart Liberty Humane Society!

    by: shorehousechic

I walked in the door last February (2007) to drop off a donation of blankets and stuff...and made eye contact with "Doozie." (Now Maggie.) Best eye contact I ever made!\r\n\r\nWhile my boyfriend took a couple of weeks to sort out whether/how we could give Doozie a good home, we visited LHS on couple of occasions and the staff was always happy to take the time to help us sort everything out. They let us visit with Doozie, and let us go with them to take her on walks so we could get to know her. While we were we could see the staff and the shelter in action. It almost like...the dogs didn't know they were in a shelter! The staff is just that good with them...they make it feel like home.\r\n\r\nI'm happy that my first shelter experience was such a great one! I hope others who read this will consider adopting from them. Maggie sure is glad we did. :-) \r\n\r\n- Laura\r\n

    Pros

Staff that really care, and a legion of great volunteers

    Cons

Need more space, and shelter could use a facelift for better "curb appeal"

  • 97. A great Shelter

    by: Mshan

This shelter works very hard with very little. Thankfully the amount of dedicated volunteers has increased over time. This allows for the possiblity of getting things accomplished that otherwise could not get done. Their BAD Dog program is great on working with dogs with some minor correctible issues.

    Pros

Dedicated volunteers that know as much as the staff

    Cons

    As with all shelters, funding

  • 98. Great Shelter that constantly improves

    by: Gencare

LHS is an outstanding shelter that my wife and I volunteer at. While we live in Edison we shelp to Jersey City because of the Pit Bull population and the great job they are doing for Pits, especially their BADDOG program. They also do a great job for cats and other animals that wind up in their care.\r\n\r\nThe staff is friendly and knowledgeable and just a great bunch of people. They are a bit overwhelmed but only because they work on a shoestring budget and have limited physical resources. Also, because of the physical arrangment of the converted garage, there isn't really a reception area that you have to pass through when you enter the shelter, so sometimes potential adopters wander into the kennel area and may go unnoticed.\r\n\r\nMy wife an I have been affiliated with LHS for about two years and constantly see improvement with what they are doing and how they are doing it. They have fairly recently brought on some new staff who are outstanding, i.e. the volunteer coordinator and the development person. They already had outstanding staff in their executive director, shelter manager, and assistant shelter manager. The guys and gals in the trenches do a great job as well.\r\n\r\nSome of the recent improvements are the BADDOG program. Check it out through a link at their web site (www.libertyhumane.org) They also run a great annual fund raiser called "Bark in the Park" and this year they did a fund raiser, exposure for adoptable dogs event, at Riverfront Stadium which is located in Newark. The Newark Bears who are an Independent League baseball team had a Take your dog to the ballpark day and allowed LHS to bring their dogs and have tables and displays featuring the shelter. The Newark Bears is another fine organization that supports LHS.\r\n\r\nAnyway, LHS is a great shelter and I am proud to be affiliated with it. No matter how bad my day is, if I can get up to the shelter and walk some pups, that brightens it up.\r\n\r\nI'd like to write more, but guess what. Playing hookey from work today and what do you think I'll be doing shortly? Heading up to LHS to work with some great shelter dogs. If you live in or visit the area, stop by and take a peak. You'll be glad you did.

    Pros

Caring staff and volunteers. Great with the shelter animals

    Cons

Needs better facilities and better availability for adopters

  • 99. LHS is the best

    by: sfurnbac

I have been volunteering at Liberty since July and I must say, it is really a rewarding experience. Allison, the volunteer cooridnator is great and really allows you to volunteer at your own schedule and pace. As a volunteer you can walk the dogs, play with the kittens, clean cages, do laundry etc. \r\n\r\nThe staff are great and really love animals. Although all the animals deserve forever homes, it is nice to see them in such great hands in the mean time. The volunteers take good care of the animals too!

    by: petrina5

Stopped by on Friday to drop off some supplies. I walked into the office and the first one to greet me was the sweetest pitbull. She was so happy to see me and at that moment, all my worry melted away. She was sporting her swanky new collar. Then the staff treated me (and her) by putting on her Sunday hat! \n\nThe staff was great-- very friendly. And, although I said the building could use a little work (it's an old facility), the outside was warm and inviting with lots of plants and flowers. \n\nI also MUST thank them for taking in my 3 cats free of charge when I was hospitalized for 3 weeks in 2005. I couldn't find anyone to care for them and I couldn't afford a kennel. When my cats developed colds they gave each of them a shot free of charge. I will forever be grateful to them. I am doing my best to help them win that much-deserved make over!!!!

    Pros

    Cons

Building needs a bit of work.

  • 108. Liberty HUmane Society's Journey

    by: VKiggins

I work at Liberty Humane Society. Each and every day I witness a gigantic commitment to animals. This does not only come from the staff but from an incredible group of volunteers and a wonderful Board of Directors. We have come from so little and struggle to improve every day. Our needs are great working in an urban environment with large numbers of strays and unwanted pets entering the shelter every day. But we manage to offer each animal a safe and clean cage, medical treatment if necessary, and healthy food and water. Our space limitations are felt every day and we hope to have a larger shelter in the near future. The needs are great.

  • 111. Doing so much

    by: Krochalk

An animal shelter in a converted city garage. What they lack in specialization for the purpose they more than make up for in commitment from staff and help from volunteers. I have volunteered at LHS for 3 plus years and adopted the Dog and Miss Tigger, our 2 cats, from them. In my time with LHS I have seen it get better and better. Facilities have been expanded so they can care for more animals and the staff does incredible work in sometimes difficult and heartbreaking circumstances. How they deal with so many strays and owner surrenders and keep a positive attitude is beyond me. They go out of their way to educate the public and adopters about how to properly care for their pets, how to avoid troubles when bringing a new critter home, and what adopters can do if the new critter isn't settling in as quickly as expected. They also work valiantly to dispel the rumors and outright lies about one of my new favorite breeds, the pit bull. Before my time with LHS I had no opinion about pit bulls. Now that I've interacted with literally hundreds I have a great appreciation for them and a different opinion of the people who train them to fight. If you want a good pet, avoid pet stores, puppy mills, and breeders. Go to LHS and find a new beastie to take care of you.

    Pros

    Staff, staff, volunteers, staff

    Cons

Facilities need to be better (and they're working on it)

LHS is a great shelter full of people who geniunely care about animals. Their volunteer base is amazing and their programs really benefit the community. But the shelter is small and was never meant to be an animal shelter. They need a make over bad! I can't image what they will be able to do on behalf of animals if they have a proper shelter.

    Cons

    Small building, not enough room

  • 115. Wonderful Animal Organization

    by: zipnjulie

This shelter has done a lot of fantastic work taking care of the local animals who have no one else to love them. Once an animal enters the doors at Liberty, they can begin to learn that people can be kind, and can deserve the unconditional love that only animals can give. The staff has a great supporting staff of volunteers who foster and socialize the dogs and cats. They educate the new parents and help insure a long and happy life for the new family. Give Me Liberty, and give the animals a chance at life!

    Pros

    Very Caring staff and volunteers

  • 118. Wonderful place

    by: JBat

I got my cat Izzie there in January and it was a great experience. I was a little overwhelmed in picking a cat out but the staff were super friendly and helpful and in the end, I picked the perfect cat for me. A week later, when my vet told me that Izzie had an umbilical hernia and needed a $1000 in surgery, I panicked and called the shelter, who told me to drop her off with them the next day. They would take care of everything with there own vet and have her back to me the same day, and at no charge. They are a real life saver!

    Pros

Very helpful staff, animals look great

    Cons

The cat quarters are a little tight, but no too bad

  • 119. A Blessing for Hudson County!

    by: Run2Fauxfur

LHS does an amazing job with somewhat limited resources. And since the demise of the Hudson Co. ASPCA---an unspeakably corrupt operation, unbelievably cruel to the animals there--LHS is our only local facility. Hoping LHS gets the support it needs to expand its good work!

    Pros

Great, caring staff & wonderful volunteer base.

    Cons

Needs to expand facility---LHS is actively working on that!

  • 120. great place to adopt or volunteer

    by: uhmno

Jersey City is lucky to have this place. They do really well at getting their name out & attracting volunteers. I'm currently fostering a kitten so I've been back and forth in the past few weeks a lot. They're located near public transportation (the lightrail) and they're open 7 days a week - so there's really no excuse to not go find your new best friend there. Compared to the 1 other shelter I volunteered at years ago in the NJ suburbs I think LHS does so much with what they've got, but the facilities could really use an upgrade.

    Pros

for adopting: lots of animals, open 7 days

    Cons

    none!

  • 121. Liberty Humane Needs Even More Volunteers

    by: JohnH

LHS has a great staff, great board and great bunch of volunteers. The problem is that achieving a no kill status needs more volunteers to join up. If there were 100 to 150 volunteers that regularly donated time every 4 to 6 weeks, this facility would improve my leaps and bounds. They have a great roadmap for sucess. They need more hands to implement their plan.

    Pros

Great gameplan for the entire shelter.

    Cons

Not enough people volunteer to help LHS reach their goal to become a no kill.

  • 122. WHAT A GODSEND!

I love that this place takes in those "bad" dogs.I love ALL dogs and truly believe that most dogs can be rehabilitated,if one has an open mind and patience enough to get to know the dog and work with it.You guys are awesome and everyone should appreciate the love and care you deliver.

    Pros

very compassionate, give dogs a chance others might not

    Cons

    not enough places like it

  • 123. Awesome Place

I read another review about how you walk into a shelter and get an overwhelming sense of sadness... the Manhattan ASPCA ..... I start bawling as soon as I walk in there. Here... I get no bad feelings.... AT ALL!!! I generally have a great feeling walking in here, and leave happy... the dogs are extremely well taken care of and the cat room is heaven!

    Pros

    clean, friendly enviorment

    Cons

    not enough room for all!!!

  • 124. Liberty is a cut above

    by: shadrack

LHS is definitely a good standard for municipal shelters, and they're working hard to make it the gold standard.\n\nAs someone (former HCSPCA volunteer) involved in rescuing Hudson County SPCA animals, LHS went far to ensure we could pull our animals and get them into foster.\n\nI would like to see more outreach in the near future - senior citizen pet programs, more fosters, advertising animals, but like many municipal shelters, LHS is crowded and the workload immense.

    Pros

    clean - accomodating

    Cons

radio was a bit loud around the animals

Everyone involved with this organization is so commited to making it succeed and finding the animals great new homes! Its B.A.D. Dogs program aims to portray pit bulls in a positive light and find them appropriate homes. To see how far this little shelter has come in such a short amount of time is truly remarkable.

  • 130. My dog had been here

    by: LilyLil

My friend works at this animal shelter and I know her and her husband spend a lot of time at adoption events, building maintenance, and caring for the animals. Almost every month, she brings home an animal(s) to help nuture them back to health. In fact, they are how we met our dog, Lily. She had brought Lily home to care for her. My boyfriend fell in love at first site. I was a bit skeptical because she is part Pit, but after doing much reading on the breed and spending time with her, I realized she was just a mush. She is the most gentle dog I've ever known. She's loved by kittens, other dogs, and people! Once another dog, whose owner said she was friendly, try to snap at her and she ran behind me. Not much of a guard dog either, I've had people walk into the house who she has never met and she greets them with a wagging tail. I know not all pits are the same, but if I were to have the chance to adopt another dog, it's going to be a pit.

    Pros

Very good with animals, especially pit bulls

    Cons

It is not a no-kill shelter

  • 131. A Great Place

    Pros

    Organized, welcoming, clean, pro-adoption

    Cons

Still employ euthenization during overcrowding/ kitten season

  • 132. One of the best shelters

    by: shocktartt

I have volunteered here, been a paid worker, and have adopted 2 of my pitbulls from here. Jersey City has a real problem with pitbull fighting and having so many stray pitbulls. This shelter is the most compassionate one I've seen as far as trying to find homes for great pits and for keeping ones that deserve a chance at the shelter for as long as possible. So many shelters don't give pitbulls the chance they deserve.

    Pros

they really try to help pitbulls find homes

    Cons

    nothing bad to say

  • 133. Great people doing great work

    Pros

    Knowledgeable staff and friendly volunteers

    Cons

The need more room... but are working on it!

  • 134. They do amazing work

    by: horsencl

This shelter does amazing work. If it weren't for them, all of those animals would be sent to the less than stellar HCSPCA shelter. My cat came from there and she has the most amazing, well socialized temperment. I'm sure that has something to do with the quality of care she received before she was adopted. Their volunteers are always putting together adoption days and events. They have also been major advocates for pit bulls. Being a urban community, Jersey City had a real problem with fighting dogs (and still does to a certain extent). Liberty Humane has a played a big part in getting these dogs rescued at an early age and getting them into loving homes.

    Pros

They are they best advocates for pits in the area

    Cons

    they aren't no kill YET

  • 135. Doing alot with sooo little

    Pros

They are doing what they can with what they have.

    Cons

They are over full and under staffed & under supplied.
