  • 1. Bradley's Adoption

    by: BradleyJenkins

The facility is new and beautiful, but the people who work with the animals don't have enough volunteers to walk/run the dogs (this is what one of the vet techs explained to me) so a lot of the dogs are really hyper - mainly because they are cooped up at least 23 hours of the day in their kennels. My dog was considered "hyper-active" but after I took him home he calmed down a lot - so don't let this discourage you as a prospective adopter if all the dogs seem too hyper. I tried to submit a volunteer application and foster application but the people at the front desk had no idea what to do with either of them. They kind of made me feel like I was a moron, like they had better things to do than submit an application (I'm sure they do but they didn't have to make me feel like that - I'm just trying to help.) Maybe that's why there isn't a lot of free help. I think I got one email about volunteering to upkeep the sorry website, but there was no other follow up because I couldn't make the last minute web design training date. Other than that, I can tell the people who work there really care about the animals and make a nice connection with them. They had a lot of information about the individual personality of the dogs I was looking at, and they were more than helpful to allow me to see a pup in one of the viewing rooms. I just wish they had more volunteer help if needed.

    Pros

new facility, clean, organized, informative staff (the ones that actually work with the animals)

    Cons

uninformed front desk, not enough volunteers

My dog came from this organization and his is a wonderful dog. They were helpful since at the time of his adoption he had a few medical problems. I later found a puppy that I brought to them and unfortunately they explained to me very kindly that if they took the puppy in he was likely to "put down" due to a sezure of multiple dogs that over loaded the facilities. I decided to keep the puppy for another two weeks and put up signs in hopes of finding the owner. Once those two weeks expired and no news from the owner I returned with the puppy to the SPCA where they were more than happy to help find the puppy a good home. The staff was very kind and very knowledgable.

    Pros

    Kind yet professional

    Cons

sometimes their frustration is taken out on the wrong people
