  • 1. Not good for a regular vet

    by: SBaldwin23

I had been going to Island Rescue for many years with my 2 dogs and my cat. In the beginning they were great. They had wonderful and caring vets, techs and support staff. Then, many of them left and were replaced with sub-par people. Not to mention they got insanely busy. I would make an appointment and then wait 2 plus hours after my appointment time to be seen. AND on 3 occasions I couldn't even get an appointment when one of my pets were sick! When my cat was sneezing and drooling one Friday, the girl on the phone said, "sorry we don't have anything until Monday" to which I replied "well, is my cat going to die?" and she said "WELL, WE WON'T KNOW UNTIL WE SEE HIM!!!" I no longer go to this vet. I would only recommend it for spaying/neutering stray cats.

    Lower costs

    Way too busy

  • 2. This is where I take my pooch

    by: linaospi

I have taken my dog here ever since I got her, they were recommended by the Islip Town Shelter as an inexpensive alternative for her first shots. They are always so helpful and knowlegable that I have stuck with them.\r\nThanks island rescue!

They are inexpensive, caring and always eager to help

They are a bit over crowded sometimes, long waiting time.

  • 3. Great care at great price

    by: Campbellmom71

I find the staff and Dr.s at Island Rescue to be knowledgable and caring. The care my animals receive there is as good if not better than other vets offices I have been to (Only much less money) Thank you for making it a little easier to take care of my 4 legged children (lol)

    very reasonable

    Long wait for appointments sometimes

  • 4. spaying and neutering care

    by: Merry

This place helps feral cats by spaying and neutering them. Check to see if your local animal shelter has certificates that accept. They are reasonable with their prices.

    accepts certificates from participating shelters

    can't think of any

  • 5. Quality Service at an Inexpensive Price

    by: aussiejodi

Island Rescue are inexpensive and provide quality service. Little Shelter uses them for many of our cats and we often recommend people who can not afford regular vet costs. They understand the overpopulation problem.

None that I can think of

  • 6. Inexpensive Pet Care

    by: rabbit57i

I first went to Island Rescue to get my Kitten spayed inexpensively. As everyone knows, having pets can be quite a hit on the pocket. I now go to them regularly for all my pets' veterinary care. I honestly can't believe how affordable all the services & meds are. \n\nThe only downside is that it's a very popular place and as a result, the time in the waiting room can be a bit long. I give the desk workers a lot of credit in dealing with all the people that they have to see everyday. \n\nWhile waiting to see the doctor, I spoke with another woman who travels all the way from Queens to bring her pets here. I think that that says a lot about how great Island Rescue is.

    Long wait time
