  • 2. The best pets come from Ingham County Animal Control....

    by: kussmau3

Our fabulous three-legged cat Wally came from this shelter; I appreciate their spay/neuter policy. It’s pretty clean and not too smelly; there’s not a ton of room to interact with the animals, so it would be great if they could get more space. But it’s still a good place to go to adopt wonderful animals.

    Pros

Good hours, accessible location, pretty clean, great pets.

    Cons

Too small, has a kind of institutional vibe.

The animals are made to feel as comfortable as possible during their time at the shelter. They are treated with love and affection, and given the best chance at a new life.

    by: criminal

My daughter and I frequent the shelter often and make food donations etc and of course to spend some time with the wonderful animals. If we owned 10 acres of land we would probably bring one home each and every time. lol.\r\n\r\nwe acquired spaz from this shelter...our rotweiller.....and we just love him. We thank GOD that the shelter gave him a chance. He had/has a full tail......and had an issue with his eye. Who could resist him?????\r\n\r\nThe shelter was wonderful about......and actually WANTED us to bring in our other pets to acquaint them and be sure they'd get along. I'm glad they are thorough in their process to see that the animals go to a GOOD home.\r\n\r\nWhy not save a pet today?????? visit the ingham county animal shelter today.

These people do the best they can with limited space and financial resources. It is a great place to find a pet. Be sure to ask for help, the staff knows these animals well and can help you choose! We passed by a wonderful dog because he looked so bedraggeled but the staff recommended him and he has been the perfect companion for many years.

    by: Richmonds

An animal control officer worked with me and helped relieve some of my fears. She was fould by a caring person, in the Meijer parking lot and brought to the fenced in area of the shelter. Before leaving his shift on Saturday, the officer took the time to call me to see if Sadie had returned. Everyone was so helpful.

All the changes are amazing--bright colors, open cattery, new dog kennels and a medical treatment room.
