  • 1. Staff is Great Animals Deserve a better facility

    by: victorsmom

The animals deserve better. The staff could not be more dedicated to helping them, as well as the many volunteers that come and take the animals out on their personal time. This shelter has been overlooked too many times and is in need of help badly. The roof has been recently repaired, the cages are too small, the shelter is on a wait list all the time it seems due to being overbooked, but they are always willing to help.\r\n\r\nPlease think of adoption before looking at a breeder, there are so many that dont get second chances.

  • 2. Continuos Improvement

    by: hgrams

The Staff, the Board of Directors and Volunteers of the Humane Society of SWMI are not complacent. Working in a less than ideal environment, the staff focuses on maintaining a clean shelter and also giving the dogs opportunity to spend some time in the outside kennels - which are too small, not accessible from the inside kennels, but are outside.\r\n\r\nThe cat cages are kept clean and the cats are handled as much as possible.\r\n\r\nThe Staff works with the volunteers to try to socialize all the animals and also give them opportunities to go to adoption events.\r\n\r\nThe volunteers keep coming up with additional ideas on how to give the pets exposure to help them find forever homes.\r\n\r\nThe Board does whatever is necessary to help facilitate the work of the staff and volunteers and to raise money to keep the Shelter viable. The board is definitely a working board!\r\n\r\nThe teamwork is great and continues to evolve!\r\n\r\n
