  • 1. I love this place!

    by: TBenson

I love this place! The cats have a loving place to stay without being caged up all day. The sick cats are cared for and they have an equal chance of getting adopted. The staff was very welcoming and they work there for the love of animals instead of money. I hope this place wins the makeover!

    Pros

They don't keep the cats caged up!

    Cons

They need more space to care for the cats.

  • 2. A Place Where They Really Care!

    by: ztT4MP88536280

We chose to cremate our beloved Caesar, a gray tabby, he lived 18 yrs inspite of being diabetic the last 6 years of his life. We chose this shelter to provide the cremation services. They were so friendly and understanding in our time of sorrow, They complimented us on how we lovingly placed him in a wooden box covered by an heirloom blanket. They placed the remains in a velvet bag and gave us a certificate about a story of meeting up with our pets at "Rainbow Bridge". It was beautiful. The people there really cared about us and showed their respect for our loss. I would definitely choose this shelter to volunteer at and nominate them for the make-over.

    Pros

    Caring Staff

    Cons

    Not well known

    Cons

    Kind of small.

  • 4. Their cats love the shelter

    by: Kelly2

From the minute I walked in, I knew the shelter was one filled with love...not a sad place to go. The cats are loved and well taken care of, and I didnt' feel bad not taking them all home. The workers all know each cat and their personalities. I often go back just to spend a couple of hours in the shelter playing with all the little ones.

    Pros

    great staff, happy kittys

    Cons

    none

  • 5. Best shelter!

    by: gymkitty

this shelter is amazing! They try to make it where all the animals are free roaming! Even if the animals dont get along with others, then they give them their own room! They always have someone that can help you. Unlike some shelters, you can see how loving the cats are! They come right up to you! You get to see their personalities and how they react with others cats and people. HELP is also a no-kill shelter. They give every animal a chance to live a long life. Ones with specail diseases like Fiv have a room with all the ones just like them. They get all the same things.

    Pros

Very few cats are in cages!

    Cons

Not as much room for dogs

  • 6. Made a difference in my life!

    by: spunkygrl107

I love volunteering for the HELP Humane Society! I have always been an animal lover, but could never volunteer for other shelters because I could not deal with the pain of knowing an animal is being euthanized when it doesn't deserve it. HELP is a true no-kill animal shelter. The love that is displayed to every animal that comes into their care is absolutely amazing! It doesn't matter what that animal has been through or its current condition; they still love and care for it as though it was their own and would do whatever it took to make that animal happy and healthy. I feel so fulfilled when I volunteer there. I know that I am making a difference and that I am a part of a shelter, that despite all obstacles, gives every animal there the best life they could get before going to their forever home. Thank you HELP Humane Society! You are awesome!

  • 8. goes far beyond "typical"

    by: svw

Most shelters wouldn't bother with FeLV+ cats,\r\nor with FIV+ cats or feral cats. HELP recognizes\r\ntheir needs and makes their lives worth living.\r\nThe ferals at HELP are those that were unable to\r\nreturn to their colonies for various reasons,\r\nand Cyndi has made them safe. Some of them\r\naren't even so "feral" any more--they know love\r\nwhen they see it, and they've responded!

    Pros

FeLV+ room, FIV+ room, even a feral room

    Cons

    none

  • 9. A clean and comfortable shelter

    by: sv

HELP is a lot of fun. I volunteer there, scooping\r\nlitter and topping off food and water, and even\r\nthat part is fun, because I get to pet the kitties\r\nand watch them get to know me. I've learned\r\nmany of their names. HELP is very well-run;\r\nthere are shifts, and, though it is hard work,\r\nHELP is lucky to have some dedicated volunteers.\r\nI only volunteer a few hours a week, due to having\r\na full-time job, but I still feel like I make a difference.\r\n

    Pros

    Very friendly cats and people

    Cons

    none

  • 11. THE Place for adopting cats!

    by: lillybelle

HELP Humane Society is concidered the best place to go to adopt a cat. They know the cats personalities and are able to match the right cat with a person. The cats are all in free roaming rooms with lots of toys, places to sleep and play which makes for happy cats!

    Pros

    Clean and Friendly

    Cons

    none

  • 12. NON-depressing shelter!

    by: shanvw

I've felt so sad when I've gone to animal shelters\r\nand I think people sometimes avoid them for this\r\nreason. This is not a worry with HELP--even though\r\nthe animals at HELP need forever homes, they\r\nare well-cared for and loved until those homes are\r\nfound. The more great homes that can be found\r\nfor HELP's animals, the more animals HELP can take-\r\nbut they must have funds in order to maintain this.

    Pros

You don't cry when you leave HELP

    Cons

    none

  • 13. Happy kitties!

    by: Lulanni

This is the best shelter i have ever set foot into. The shelter director is caring and knows each animal by name along with their life story and health history. She works 24/7 to improve the quality of life for these animals, often at her own expense. If more people cared like the shelter director at HELP Humane Society does about their animals, we would not have shelters across the nation euthanizing for no reason and no animal cruelty.

    Pros

clean, knowledgable shelter director, great volunteers

    Cons

need more help- more donations and more volunteers!

  • 14. A Great Place to Volunteer!

  • 15. The best shelter I have ever seen

    by: shanvanw

HELP Humane Society is a wonderful facility.\r\nIt is a true no-kill shelter and it's unbelievable\r\nhow happy all its cats are. They greet you;\r\ntheir various personalities are evident, the shelter\r\ndirector knows each one personally (she never has\r\nto check to see "who's this") and the shelter is\r\nrun with great care. Vetting, cleanliness, food\r\nand water, intake: all are top-notch. The adoption\r\nprocess is careful and thorough. HELP should be\r\nthe model for shelters everywhere.

    Pros

    No-kill AND free-roaming!

    Cons

    none that I can determine!
