We have a 2 year old rough collie and came to Happy Tails when we first moved to Silverdale hoping to find a groomer knowledgable in grooming collies. The first time our collie was groomed there, he ended up with a bacterial skin infection all along his back which the vet said came from brushing too much and too strongly. $250 and several medications later (including steroids which our collie reacted to) we decided to try Happy Tails again because they were receptive to what the vet said and were willing to try a different shampoo and brush more gently.
Our second experience there was good - no problems and our collie looked OK. We have had him groomed by people who truly know how to groom a collie and this was certainly not true here, but he isn't a show dog so we're not too picky.
This last time, Happy Tails short scissored our collie down to under an inch across his entire body. He looks exactly like a smooth collie - NONE of the long wavy hair left, no mane around his face, no fluffy tail. We were devastated with his appearance and even moreso when the vet said this cut could be harmful to him and would take 6 months to grow out. When I called to speak to the groomer about this she was very curt and defensive, told me she was a professional groomer and knew how to groom dogs, that my dog looked beautiful and then she hung up on me.
I am EXTREMELY upset with this experience and want to let as many people know as possible about her lack of grooming knowledge and disrespectful service when a customer isn't happy.
