This is a great facility. We adopted Buzz for HCHS just over seven years ago.

    None

  • 2. New facility

    by: BoBBunny

I visit this humane society and enjoy watching the dogs walked and seeing the other animals but I want to take all of them home.\r\n\r\nThey have moved to a new building next to the Hamilton County Fairgrounds and I have taken a stray to the spay and neuter clinic they have.\r\n\r\nTheir staff is kind and sincere in the effort to help.

    Pros

    Nice people

    Cons

I want all of the animals there!

  • 3. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't have Max!

    by: kathyjackson

I adopted my dog Max from this shelter several years ago. The staff was wonderful, knowledgeable and made the process go very smoothly. They work very hard to find good homes for the animals in their care.

    Pros

Knowledgeable staff, very low euthanasia rates

    Cons

    Limited access

  • 4. Takes care of throw-away pets

    by: mckbryn01

This is an excellent organization. They have high placements rates, and euthanasia is used only as a last resort. We recently adopted a beautiful, sweet dog, and we were pleased with the support of the staff. We were invited to bring the kids and our existing dog to make sure our new family member would not be overwhelmed by our noisy, active family. I just wish I could do more to help the other animals who need "forever homes." \r\n\r\nThe only drawback is that we were there on a busy Saturday. We waited a very long time to be helped, but I reminded myself that it was good for the animals that so many people were there looking to adopt. Much of the work is done by volunteers. So if you choose to go on one of the busiest days of the week, expect to dig deep for patience and remember that the priority is the animals.

    Pros

    caring volunteers and staff

    Cons

none -- just sad that the service is needed at all

  • 5. Giving animals the second chances they deserve...

    by: jfnv17

The Humane Society for Hamilton County is a wonderful animal shelter!!! They do everything in their power to ensure that the animals get the second chances they deserve. The shelter does a wonderful job of getting the community involved in the efforts to help the animals. The survival stories are amazing, as well. Animals with serious injuries have received the surgeries and medical treatments needed and have then been able to find new, loving "furever" homes. It is great to see the shelter making a difference in the lives of thousands of animals every year!

    Pros

Caring staff; knowledgable staff; true devotion to the animals

    Cons

    None that I know of
