    by: DanaCrevling

This rescue was one of the first in the area to help retired greyhounds. These regal, sweet dogs can make great pets.

    Pros

    great dogs

    Cons

    by: DDRau

Greyhound Friends has a very active network of volunteers in the northeast. Hopefully with this new legislation they will soon no longer be needed. Sure in some respect that will be sad for them but if there are no more racetracks, the suffering of so many dogs will end. They have always done a good job of matching dogs and people. Most greyhound owners have more than one that they have adopted from Louise's group.

    Pros

    Last chance for many dogs

    Cons

    none

Adopted our greyhound from this group years ago. Very knowledgable & dedicated group working to save track greyhounds long before it became in vogue.

    Pros

    Does good work

    Cons

    none

Kudos to this group helping the greyhounds! Personally, I think that dog racing should be outlawed.

    Pros

A much needed type of rescue.

I've been a supporter of Greyhound Friends for many years and have adopted 3 dogs from them. They know the dogs well and work hard to place them in appropriate homes. They have several open houses throughout the year to encourage new and previous adopters to drop in and visit. Their new facility is bright and welcoming. The dogs are comfortable and well cared for while awaiting a "retirement" home.

    Pros

    Well-educated staff; great dogs

    Cons

Shelter is off the beaten path
