    by: pastagurl123

This is a great shelter and I encourage anyone to visit. And might I just say, woot! for being the only Colorado shelter that even made the top 40, 8 more days...I think we can do it. :)

    Pros

No kill shelter, very nice, clean

    Cons

    none

  • 3. FCRR is an Asset to the Community

    by: Juditka

FCCR is a fantastic no-kill shelter for cats. They give these sweet kitties the second chance they deserve. The staff works non-stop to keep the shelter going and make the community aware of the services they offer. I can't state strongly enough how much FCRR is needed and wanted in our area. They take the time to get to know each kittie's personality so a successful adoption match can take place. I know this for a fact as I have pesonally adopted 2 wonderful kitties from them.

    Pros

Wonderful, caring staff. Kitties are well taken care of.

    Cons

    None

  • 4. Wonderful shelter

    by: latkins

This shelter is just great. I volunteer there and have witnessed first hand how much the staff and volunteers care about the cats under their care and the work that they do. They are no kill and have found forever homes for cats that would have probably never made it to the adoption shelves at the humane society. I just absolutely love this shelter.

    Pros

    clean, friendly, no kill

    Cons

    none?

  • 5. FCCR is the best!

    by: musicalmerrill

At FCCR the people are always super friendly. I adopted my youngest cat from them, and I just love the way they treat their animals. The cats in the shelter get a clean environment and good quality, as well as being able to roam around outside their cages. The kittens all get foster homes! I also really like their low cost spay/neuter program. Such a great organization.

    Pros

Very caring staff, easy adoption procedure

    Cons

Fascility is a little out of the way

  • 6. A Wonderful Place for Kitties Waiting for Forever Homes

    by: SuzanneR

Fort Collins Cat Rescue is a relatively new shelter that has grown and developed tremendously since it was started on a shoestring by two devoted cat lovers. The shelter is bright and cheerful, with clean and comfortable accomodations for the cats and caring, well-informed staff members. They also have many volunteers who provide loving temporary homes for foster kittens and cats until they are ready to be placed in adoptive homes. Between the shelter and the associated Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic (for both cats and dogs), FCCR is working hard to have an impact on our pet overpopulation problem.

    Pros

comfortable, cheerful environment with caring, knowledgable staff

    Cons

    none

  • 7. FCCR

    by: jenjen16

I learned of the Fort Collins Cat Rescue at the Loveland Cat Show. The people that work and volunteer with the shelter are absolutely wonderful! The staff is very knowledgeable, warm, caring, and the needs of the animals is their top priority. I would recommend anyone looking to adopt a cat or kitten do so with FCCR. Their shelter is always clean and comfortable for the cats, but they could definitely use more space!

    Pros

No-Kill Shelter, Amazing Volunteers, Low Cost Spay/Neuter

    Cons

    None

  • 8. very good rescue

    by: batkins62

my daughter is a volunteer for this rescue, and thinks it is a great service to the community. The people are great, and the cats are well cared for and get a lot of socialization. The shelter is a bit small, and it would be great if they could get a larger place, to help even more (I know they are working on this)

    Pros

    no kill shelter

    Cons

    small shelter

  • 9. I Appreciate their Efforts

    by: slabit

I fostered for this rescue for a while and there was never any lack of care for the cats, however, they were at times difficult to work with trying to coordinate care and not very supportive of out of home adoptions. I was very disappointed this past summer when they changed the policy for feral cats making it much more difficult, almost impossible, to get them spayed/nuetered. They have a genuine mission to help cats and I appreciate their efforts but they could do more with some simple changes.

    Pros

    Cheap spay/nueter clinic and vaccs

    Cons

    difficult to volunteer

  • 10. goood job

  • 12. Fort Collins Cat Rescue is the BEST

    by: PhotogMark

Fort Collins Cat Rescue is a No Kill Shelter in Northern Colorado which is always ready to lend a hand and rescue a kitten or cat. They offer sincere and knowledgeable advice along with budget cost Spay & Neuter service. Sarah has the patience of a saint in working with the community. She and her volunteers are angels indeed. We need more people like these in the world.

    Pros

No Kill, Caring Customer Service, Volunteer operated

    Cons

None that I can think of

  • 13. FCCR is one of a kind

    by: katesim

FCCR is a great organization that I voluntered shortly for in 2008. I loved it because while they put the care of the cats first, they were very friendly and laid back. Unlike some humane societies, the cats had more freedoms and attention than would a cat locked in a cage 23 hours a day. They get played with, talked to, fed, given medical attention, brushed, hugged and kissed! \r\nIf I didn't already have 3 cats, I would adopt from there.

    Pros

Friendliness, Flexibility, Environment for cats, care of cats, community outreach and involvement

    Cons

    need more space

  • 14. Love it at FCCR!

    by: KitSutherland

I have been extremely impressed with the Fort Collins Cat Rescue. It was founded by two very motivated and dedicated women with a strong drive to make better the situation for cats in the area. They work tirelessly to expand knowledge about responsible cat ownership, breeding and management. \r\n\r\nI look forward to the day that I can give more than I currently do and make a great change for the Rescue.\r\n\r\nIf you are looking for information, spay/neuter, adoption or volunteering, this is a place that will answer your need. I highly recommend them!

    Pros

    caring, concerned, educated staff

    Cons

not enough money coming in to be as big as needed in the city

  • 15. Shaggy

    by: claudiaeberspacher

Thanks for all of the wonderful work you do to keep kitties warm and safe until they find a home. Shaggy added so much to my life and I feel good that he lived out his last year having many adventures in the garden and under the porch (the photo shows what he got into under the porch)! Thank you...we are lucky to have FRCC in Northern Colorado!

    Pros

Loving, comfortable place for kitties while they await a home

    Cons

    none

  • 16. Love this place!

  • 17. We love FCCR!

    by: Tkoppert

FCCR is amazing. We adopted our first cat there, and plan on adopting our second kitten from there in the next few weeks. They have been great. They take such good care of the cats while there, and then they were more than willing to answer all of my questions about adopting a second pet and how to make that transition easy. I appreciate all of their hard work and dedication.

    Pros

Can answer any questions, very friendly, really care about each pet that comes through their door.

    Cons

They don't have more orange kittens.

  • 18. We love this place

    by: partyball

My wife and I love the Fort Collins Cat Rescue. We visit there often and donate a few times a year. These folks are obvious animal lovers and really give these guys a home. If you have not stopped by, please do so. Even if you are not in the market for a new cat please stop by and play with the cats. They all need some love and attention and there are only so many staff to go around. You may be suprised and find a new friend you can not live without. Please do not forget to give what you can, even if it is just the love and attention.

    Pros

The love and commitment that they staff has.

    Cons

Their facility could use some help.

  • 19. Great Place!

    by: Tayaleman

This is a great shelter! I like that they spay/neuter before you get the cat and they also add a microchip. This rescue is looking out for the well being of all of the cats they have!

    Pros

    No kill shelter

    Cons

    It is a little small

  • 20. Wonderful Rescue

    by: erbryan

I just got my kitten neutered at the low cost clinic. It was a wonderful experience. They were very proffesional and I honestly don't think he got any less care because of the low cost. The shelter also seemed very nice, and the cats seemed very happy to be out of their cages.

    Pros

kitties get a lot of attention

    Cons

    none

  • 21. A fantastic place, with people who truly love cats.

    by: sherpabelle

I have known the owner for several years through family friends. While I didn't adopt my girls from them (only because I didn't realize I was looking for another cat until these two showed up in my life) I did decide to take them to the Fort Collins Cat Rescue when it was time to spay them and get their first shots. The shelter was more than willing to work with my schedule as far as dropping the girls off early and picking them up the next day. They even lent me an extra carrier since the girls came out of surgery mad at each other. I was so pleased to be able to support their work, and even though it's hard to see all of the cats and kittens looking for homes, I at least know that none of them will be killed if they aren't adopted quickly enough, or for any of the variety of other reasons a cat might be euthanized elsewhere.

    Pros

Friendly, accessible, convenient, professional, and personal

    Cons

Hard to leave with sweet kitties in the waiting room, wanting a home!

  • 22. Cat rescue is top notch!

    by: CatsnCars

The cat rescue is a great place for kitties.\nI am really happy about all the new changes they are making to try to adopt more kitties.\nThe adopt a momma program is a great idea I really hope that goes over well.\nIf you've never been you should really stop by and visit the kitties!

    Pros

A very loving home for the kitties

    Cons

    Just not enough space

  • 23. Cat rescue is amazing

    by: orangetwins

I found the rescue a little over a year ago when I was looking for a place to take my new kitties for shots.\nI have been addicted ever since. I volunteer when I can and they have been wonderful. I love all the events they put on and am so looking forward to chat amor 2 this year.\nIt has become one of those places that once I'm there I have a lot of trouble leaving without more kitties in my arms.\nKeep doing what you guys are doing its so awesome!

    Pros

No kill shelter so all kitties will someday find a home

    Cons

Too many kitties too little space

  • 24. Happy endings

    by: jenanderson

I really enjoy volunteeing at FCCR and hearing about all of the kitties stories. The best part is that they all get a happy ending! I adopted a six year old male cat from FCCR and he is the most affection cat I've ever met. He comes running when you call him.\r\n\r\nThanks FCCR!

    Pros

    Compassionate, loving environment.

    Cons

    They need more room.

  • 26. best place for adoptable cats in Fort Collins!

    by: atomiclonnie

I love this place! Having worked at the local "open door" animal shelter, I am thrilled that Fort Collins has a "no-kill" shelter alternative. The staff are incredibly compassionate to all of the kitties, and they make their foster families feel so special. Go in for a visit, and you'll fall in love with the place, and maybe find a new forever friend!

    Pros

    no-kill, awesome foster program

    Cons

    limited operating budget

  • 27. FCCR Rocks!

    by: sleblanc

I moved to Fort Collins a little over a year ago after getting married to my husband. I had been wanting to get a cat for a long time, and we discovered FCCR while at Petco one weekend. The second we moved into an apartment that allowed pets, we went in and adopted Izzie, a 4 month old, adorable dilute tortie girl. She could not be more perfect! She had been socialized in a wonderful home with volunteers, had already been spayed, microchipped, and was up to date on shots, and was perfectly litter box trained. We have had such a great time with her, that we recently adopted a second kitten, Leo! The owners of this shelter and all of the volunteers really care about this organization and the quality of care that all of the cats receive. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for either a kitten or an adult cat (as there are many of them always looking for new homes)!

    Pros

Friendly and caring staff, all kittens are fostered and socialized in homes, no-kill shelter

    Cons

They don't have the physical space to save as many kitties as they would like.

  • 30. Awesome Place!

    by: ckehm

I volunteer at this place and it is an amazing place. I volunteered at a Humane Society about a year ago, and it's nothing compared to this. This is a small locally owned shelter, and it's small, but they are the most loving people!! If I could adopt another cat, it's the first place I would go. They have great staff/volunteers, and they take care of their cats the best I have ever seen a shelter take care of them. They may not have the most money, but they do what they can to give the cats a wonderful place to stay temporarily. Plus, it's a no-kill shelter, which is wonderful! Bunky is a 20 year old cat!!! Any other place would not have a 20 year old cat, or even a 13 year old. I just love this place!\r\n\r\nIf you want to adopt a cat, go here as your first and only choice!

    Pros

    No-Kill Shelter!

    Cons

Wish there was more room for more animals. :(

  • 31. FCCR

    by: katyquinn

    by: Mushu

I volunteer at the Rescue, so I might seem biased, but I think the place is great. Most of the cats are really nice and friendly, and sweet all around.

    Pros

All the cats are kept in certain areas, and the staff knows a lot about every single one of them.

    Cons

They have a little dog who hates everyone, and even though he has no teeth, he hates everyone.

  • 36. FCCR needs more recognition

    by: tushababy

I've been volunteering with FCCR for a few months now and I absolutely love it.\r\n\r\nThey always have kitties out to play with and the 'work' I have to do, doesn't seem like work at all.\r\n\r\nI love going in there every week and seeing the new kitties in isolation, or talking about who got adopted that week.\r\n\r\nI love how they're honest about things and they don't hide information from people. They tell you when something needs changed.\r\n\r\nI look forward to volunteering every week and will continue to do so for as long as I possibly can.\r\n\r\nWhen I get older and have my own place, I will always adopt from FCCR, and I will foster too.\r\n\r\nOverall FCCR is a great environment to visit, and volunteer at. I really love it and am very glad that I found this certain organization to help.\r\n\r\nThank you for all you guys have done! Keep on rockin'!!!

    by: Zeek

This cat rescue has done some amazing things and really improved our community. They started a little under 2 years ago and have already helped close to 1000 kitties! The kitties are so well cared for and loved. When they are healthy, they get to spend a good portion of their day out of their cage and playing. The rescue just moved into an amazing new facility that will help then get cats adopted more efficiently, give them more room and the paint and decorations are charming and cheerful. We foster kittens for the Fort Collins Rescue as well as volunteer for an afternoon cleaning shift. It is such a wonderful place to volunteer!

They really care for the cats and kittens, and work so very hard to get them adopted into homes that match each cat's personality. Fantastic people to work with. The cats are well cared for and enjoy having time outside their crate-homes every single day! • 54. FCCR rescues more than kittens!!

    by: jbarrett

I had seven kittens that I needed to place. I originally took in eleven and found homes for four of them. The shelters in my home state of Texas were completely full, but Anna at Ft. Collins Cat Rescue came to MY rescue! I picked up my mother in Oklahoma and the two of us drove seven kittens to Ft. Collins, where Anna and her gang took them in and placed every one of them! \r\n\r\nI am so grateful to have had FCCR ready and willing to take those kittens and to give them the proper treatment and place them. \r\n\r\nPeople as dedicated as those at FCCR are rare, and this shelter deserves any help it can get! \r\n\r\nThank you, FCCR!

    Pros

An impeccably well-trained and dedicated staff.

  • 55. Amazing Shelter

    by: Hangloose

As a volunteer of the Fort Collins Cat Resce, I am please to say that this shelter has more then met my expectations on how they treat thier animals. Being a no kill shelter, the Cats that find thier lives here live the great life! The shelter is cleaned twice a day, and the cats are pampered by every volunteer that enters the doors. With a new, bigger location, the cats have more room to play, which helps with any person willing to adopt a cat by allowing them to see how they will act in a bigger enviroment! I highly suggest looking for a forever friend at this shelter, you will not leave disapointed with the service!

  • 62. Amazing Place - Amazing people - Amazing Cats!

    by: AmberH

This is the best no-kill cat shelter in Colorado! You will not find more dedicated staff and volunteers! The cats are very well taken care of and each cat is loved on daily - they never go without! I am honored to be a foster mommy and friend to them and would recommend everyone adopt their next kitty here. The shelter is VERY clean - you would never know there were 30 cats inside! Each cat/kitten that is adopted is followed up on to make sure they are adapting well and are happy at their new homes. This is a true - loving - no-kill shelter!

    by: susangil

My daughter and I recently started to volunteer for the Fort Collins Cat Rescues and I am very impressed with their dedication and organization as a non-profit. They place so many kittens and cats and of course have a no kill policy. Their foster families are great and I'm thrilled that my daughter is working with such a great organization as her real first volunteer experience.

    Pros

Wonderful staff with sincere interest in helping animals - very knowledgeable and friendly.

    Cons

Needed a larger space but they are getting it March 1

  • 66. Spay and neuter!

    by: celticwoman2

I love what the FCCR stands for and what they offer our community! I work at the humane society and recommend their spay/neuter clinic about a hundred times a day. I think that it is very important that we support each other (shelters/rescues)because what we can't do usually they can and we refer people here a lot. Besides, I love some of the employees here and heart them forever too...

    Pros

    It can be done

  • 70. Home for the kitties who have no home...

    by: fuzzypaws

Perfect place to come and visit kitties! Many of the cats are free to roam physically and mentally - letting their personalities shine. Some kitty shelters have the sense of abandonment and sorrow overshadowing the lives of the wrongly "accused" inhabitants who fill the cells within. Fort Collins Cat Rescue is different. With a couch and a couple of chairs, the Rescue might even feel like home! Or perhaps by taking a few of the kitties with you... your home could feel like Fort Collins Cat Rescue! Either way, you and the kitties win!

    Pros

    Relaxed, pet-friendly atmosphere

    Cons

"Hidden" on a side street at the edge of town

    by: hj

A friend of mine in Texas was trying to find a no-kill shelter that would take in some kittens that needed rescuing. No one in Texas or the surrounding states would help. She called FCCR, and Anna said bring 'em in. They all have happy homes in Colorado now. That's pretty awesome.

    Cons

Anna and Sarah work too hard

  • 77. This Place ROCKS!!!!

    by: Ecali245

I started volunteering in September because I was looking online looking for another cat on petfinder. I ran into them because they had some really interesting cats. So I started talking to the Owner online about my cat's personality. As a result of fate, I found my way to help. I love the place because every time I go there, I forget about everything other than how can I help these cats & the community. The volunteers are all very friendly, & the owners & foster parents know about the cats like they know the back of their hands. It's amazing to see this dedication to a belief to help cats, & I love them for being a no-kill shelter. I love the place, & I'm glad I found it.

    Pros

Very amazing, friendly environment, very knowledgable about all the cats

    Cons

    by: bkughman

In addition to adopting my two cats from Fort Collins Cat Rescue, I also volunteer there. They are a no-kill shelter and also run a low-cost spay neuter clinic for cats and dogs. They're dedicated to reducing pet overpopulation and finding good homes for a lot of abandoned and neglected animals. The cats in the shelter get lots of treats, lovin', and out-of-cage play time. If you're in northern Colorado and are looking for a new furry friend, Fort Collins Cat Rescue is the place to go!
