  • 2. Fallen Timber Staff

    by: Gizmo888

I saw this dog on the Fallen Timber web sight and loved the dog instantly. I could not believe that someone tied this adorable thing to a fence, in this cold weather to boot. Well, there was an abundance of responces for this dog. I sat outside for an hour at opening, when the dog was available for adoption. I had to fend off a couple of other people to get the dog. I was first in and the friendly staff took me in a private room with the dog. The staff also had to turn away other people that wanted the dog. Everyone was told first come first serve that morning. Overall, the Fallen Timber staff has proven to me that they are top notch. I will see them again this week to pick up the dog when she is ready for her new home. Many Thanks to the Fallen Timber Team.

    Pros

  • 3. Caring for My Deceased Pet

    by: MaryMewha

When my pet died and I needed a place to bury him, my veterinarian suggested Fallen Timber's Pet Cemetery. I didn't even know that a Pet Cemetery was available so close to my home and was very happy to have him placed there. The staff was so supportive. When my daughter and I took in our dog's blanket and toy they carefully wrapped him in the blanket and placed the toy next to him, as though he were sleeping with it. They also notified us of what day our pet would be buried so we could be present. We appauld their caring ways, not only for the pets they are caring for while they are living, but for the dignity and care they give to those we have lost.

  • 8. A Great Place to Volunteer

    by: mjaygee

I adopted a cat here 16 years ago. He was my best friend. When he recently passed away, I was saddened. I was not ready to adopt again, but missed the contact with a cat, so I volunteered. I look forward to every Sunday when I go to Fallen Timber. The staff members are not only caring towards animals, they are caring people. They have all worked so hard together toward winning a makeover. Their efforts and dedication did not go unnoticed. Their daily caring for the pets will continue, unfortunately, the animals will not have the benefit of a new shelter.

    Pros

    Dedicated, Knowledgeable, Friendly

    Cons

    Shelter needs many updates.

  • 10. Fallen Timber Is a Great Place To Find Your New Best Friend

    by: WendyBr

Fallen Timber's staff truly love animals. I've seen it up close and personal because I volunteer there occasionally. They have three "office cats" who are adored and pampered. They take great care of the shelter animals too.\n\nI have yet to see a disgruntled customer, but I did hear of one once.\n\nGo to Fallen Timber to find your new best friend!\n\n

  • 13. I love this place!

    by: Izzboe

I think this is a very nice shelter. My family has gotten 2 dogs from here. The first one was probably 18 - 19 years ago and the last one was 4 years ago. I love that we rescued dogs. They're so kind and affectionate. I don't think we could have gotten such great dogs unless we got them from here. Their papers that came with them told us everything about them. I will probably get more dogs from here because these dogs really deserve a place to live. :]

    Pros

They have a great staff and are very kind here.

    Cons

There aren't very many kennels that we can actually see. :[

  • 14. Great shelter and staff.

    by: mlaschultz

The employees and volunteers at Fallen Timber are really knowledgable on the types of animals and the different requirements of different breeds. They are also very helpful and will take all the time you need to have all of your questions answered. This shelter really needs a makeover and I can't think of anyone who deserves it more. They really go the extra mile. \r\n\r\nI have adopted two dogs and two cats from their facility and they are they best pets, even the one dog who was slated to be put down because of her craziness when people would go by her cage. No one was giving her the time of day but she is the BEST. So glad I gave her a chance. What a sweetie when she is not confined to a cage.\r\n\r\nPlease visit the shelter and adopt a pet today!

    Pros

    They don't turn away animals

    Cons

It is a shelter that has to euthanize unwanted animals when they are overburdened.

  • 17. A Great place to find a new friend!

    by: MisAlined

Fallen Timber is a great place. It's very deserving of this makeover. Each animal that is there is treated with unconditional love and care. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. They always take the time to make sure that the Friend that you're looking for is right for you. We welcomed a special needs dog into our family about 6 years ago. He received great care from the Vet before we adopted him and the care thru the years has been great, too. The Halloween party last Oct was a great family day out. We also enjoy the Blessing of the Animals in the spring. Each adoptee is welcomed back for the visit.\r\nFallen Timber Shelter is the only place that I would consider adopting from. I will not recommend any other place in the area to friends, family, and nice people who stop us for a pat during our walks!

    Pros

    Smaller shelter, great staff

    Cons

    Smaller shelter

  • 18. beautiful setting, caring staff, great place

    by: AnneM

This shelter, long ago, was where I got two of my dogs. It has always been a clean, well-run facility, staffed with great people. I have always been a mult-dog household and when my dogs had lived their lives and "crossed the rainbow bridge" they were buried at the beautiful dog cemetery also located at the shelter. This place will always have special memories for me.

    Pros

caring, knowledgeable and really tries to help the animals

    Cons

    not very big

  • 19. Fallen Timber stop Falling apart!

    by: fyergyrl21

Fallen Timber is a great place! The staff is very professional and knowledgeable. They have a beautiful landscape for the pet cemetery. The shelter is out in the country a little but its's worth the trip! They just need to be put on the map and get more public exposure so more families can meet their new best friend!

    Pros

Very professional staff. Very polite and knowledgeable

    Cons

    Needs more public awareness.

  • 21. GREAT SHELTER! REALLY NEEDS AND DESERVES THIS!!!!

    by: andrewlovesanimals

I think that Fallen Timber shelter really deserves this makeover and should recieve all the points because their sister shelter, on the North Shore, looks like it has already had a nice makeover. I have been to both shelters and really believe that Fallen Timber, over any other shelter, really needs and deserves this makeover!

    Pros

Very king and knowledgable and emplyess who really care about the animals!

    Cons

asfar as i am concerned, there are truyly no cons to this wonderful shelter

  • 22. Great Place

    by: Farsidewolf

Fallen Timber and a great shelter. They do what they can for all animals and the public. The staff is great and the manager Gloria is awesome. If you are looking for a new member to add to your family, adopt and loving "fallen timber" animal.

    Pros

The staff is great and treat the animals with kindness

    Cons

The shelter could use a little "lift me up" a few repairs and new stuff would help the shelter out a lot.

    by: 2blkcat

My family & I have adopted 5 wonderful cats throughout the years at the Fallen Timber Shelter in Elizabeth, PA. We also have 2 of them buried at their pet cemetery. I would love for them to receive a rennovation as the extra space would allow more room for new hopeful adoptees.

    by: maklein55

This is a great place but definitely could use an update. The staff are very friendly and knowledgable. They do a great job with the small facility. They would really prosper if they won the makeover.

    Pros

Dogs are well taken care of.

    Cons

    Small facility. Needs updated.

  • 30. Great people!

    by: KarenL2888

We adopted our dog from Fallen Timber in November. He is a 4 yr old husky and was very well taken care of there. They even took him back after a previous adopter returned him. He is very happy at home with us. You should go find a new family member there too!

    Pros

    well maintained

    Cons

    not enough adopters!

  • 31. very clean

    by: rb1717

I have been there several times, once to adopt a dog. It has always been clean and has lots of room for the dogs to run.

    Cons

  • 32. I love my dog

    by: sbraun

I purchased a dog from there 11 years ago and she is still in our home today. I am very happy with her but I was told that they are not a no-kill shelter. I would recommend this shelter to anyone because they treated the dogs with great care and had lots of room for them to run, but I would hope they don't put the ones to sleep that don't get adopted. They also have a pet cemetary on the premise.

    Pros

    lots of room

    Cons

    none
