  • 1. would be better under different circumstances

    by: reneesinclair

We've brought in about 10 strays (all the shelters were full) and I cried over them all. The staff we seemed a little jaded and uncompassionate. I'm sure that if I was looking to adopt (but my heart belongs to Catnap) the staff would be more kind.

    takes in all strays

    it's a kill shelter

  • 2. nice staff

this shelter is super friendly and will take time to answer questions.

    great staff

  • 3. This facility works hard to plae animals

    by: kristyeb

For an animal control I believe that DuPage Animal Care and Control tries very hard to place as many pets as possible in homes or in other shelters or rescues that can give the pet more time to get adopted. They have to euthanize since they are an animal control but they really do a good job of adopting as well.

    Professional, knowledgeable, friendly

  • 4. Two Adoptions!

    by: SGrise

We have adopted two cats through this shelter. They were part of the foster program. Our lives would never have been complete without Tuna Pants and Tiger Lily. One caution if you are an adopter living outside of DuPage County. Be sure to get your first rabies vaccination from a DuPage county vet (it's offered as part of the adoption fee if you're willing to go back to the shelter for it). There is some legal mumbo about that first vaccination, but after that, it's all wonderful furriness and purrs.

  • 5. adoption from Dupage County

Although I didn't end up adopting from them, I had a nice experience and would definitely visit again when I'm ready.

  • 6. Review Country shelter

    by: snoogieboogie

Over all it was a nice shelter with friendly staff. they also do avery nice job training and taking care of the animals.

    They have classes for kids

house strays that the picked up with the other pets in the shelter and they don't keep them seperate so if you pick up your pet the dogs come home with kennel cough and the cats get upper respiratory disease

  • 7. We got our siamese from here!

    by: purrfectpets11

We got our little siamese from here. Of all the kitties they have, we knew he just had to be ours. The staff were great showing us where the kitties were and telling us more about them.

Takes in all animals, great staff

Doesn't allow more than 3 pets

  • 8. This rescue shelter

    by: devilchild141

I really like this place. The staff there really seem interested in finding you the perfect pet. It's also a great cause- there are way too many animals out there going without a place to live or a family to love them. Keep up the great work!

    great for cats

    could be cleaner I suppose...

  • 9. We adopted our wonderful kitten here!!

    by: jenniferzla

We visited Dupage Animal Control for the first time when we were looking for a kitten. They had so many to choose from. We found our darling Couscous here and feel blessed to have found him. He had just come in the day before. I wish I could thank the foster family who had him. He has brought so much joy to our family and the Dupage folks were wonderful and did everything they could to get us off to the right start.

So many kittens to choose from!!

    Busy facility

  • 10. Very Busy Shelter!

    by: BHOLTZ

My daughter fostered kittens for this shelter. I would go with her to take the kittens in for their shots and dewormings. The staff were always very nice. They have an area in the waiting room with bunnies and little pets like gerbils and hamsters. The main waiting room are a big viewing window for the cat room. They were very busy all the times we were there. Good to see a lot of folks adopting pets.

    Take all animals

    they are a kill shelter

  • 11. Great place for kittens!

    by: wooday0691

we fostered kittens for this shleter for 6 years. They have great hand reared very social kittens available. They take very good care of them and for a reasonable $100 feeyou get a kitten that is already spayed/neutered, has had it's first shots, and has been dewormed. That's quite a deal!

    Great selection of kittens

    they are a kill shleter

  • 12. Nice Animal Control Shelter

    by: Bellacat3

I visited the DuPage County Animal Care and Control facility in 2005. I toured the facility and got an inside look at all the animals. The shelter spays and neuters all dogs, cats, and rabbits prior to adoption. Its foster care program is first rate and their transfer program gives pets that are out of time a new lease on life. I would definitely adopt a cat or critter from them.

lots of animals, house pets up for adoption for longer period of time, transfer program, foster program

need a some fresh paint, small shelter, room for critters

  • 13. They do a great job

    by: BettyWood

I'm a kitten foster mom for this shelter. They put a lot of effort into saving tiny kittens many shelters couldn't be bothered with. Nothing warms my heart more than getting a litter of tiny 1 day old kittens and returing them to the shelter once they reach 8 weeks, and hearing they went to their new homes within days. The shleter sapys and neuters them before they go to their new homes so they make sure new owners are responsible int hat way. Their adoption prices are reasonable, considering you are getting a fully vaccinated pet that's already be altered. If you get a kitten from here, you're getting a very well socialized kitten.

Clean, nice staff, aninmals well cared for

unfortunately they are not a no kill shelter

  • 14. Great shelter

    by: woodinator15

Dupage county definetly has a very nice animal control center. My family has fostered kittens for them for a few years now, and we can tell that they have an excellent program and they take very good care of their animals.

    Great staff

    can be hectic

  • 15. Good Field Trip

    by: kimcobb

I took my girl scout troop here a few years back and it was one one their favorite outings, hands down! They really learned alot from the staff, and enjoyed touring the facility and learning how the operations work.
