  • 1. NEVER TAKE YOUR DOGS HERE

    by: luv4dogs

I had heard some terrible things about the owners, staff and the facility but chose to try it out anyway and boy were my friends right. I went to Club Barks today for a trial day for my chow mix Bear. I had heard some terrible things about the owners, staff and the facility but chose to try it out anyway and boy were my friends right. I was unfortunately greeted by a young woman, mid 20s with glasses and short reddish hair. She was very unprofessional and should not have been working behind the desk. She didn't seem interested in me or my pet at all. I asked for a tour of the facility and I was told they only offer a video tour which is not to my liking. Most places will gladly welcome you into their facility and are proud to show it off to potential clients. It seems as though there was something they were hiding. There is absolutely no outdoor play area, just a asphalt paved, fenced in yard where the dogs are expected to go to the bathroom. The staff seems about as knowledgeable about pets as I can get doing the same case by case research on the internet. We decided on Camp Bow Wow in Elmwood Park instead. Kind courteous staff, a completely OPEN indoor/outdoor facility that the owner walked me through inch by inch, a webcam accessible to me online anytime the dogs are out of their "cabins", and staff that are obviously educated and know what they are talking about. I will never refer anyone to Club Barks and hope that people will take any warnings about them seriously before trusting them with the life of your pet.

    by: Huskyloves

Club Barks is a terrific daycare and boarding facility, a real one stop shop for all things dog! They offer daycare and boarding, as well as grooming, a great selection of holistic food and accessories, and a training facility right next door.

    Pros

    Immaculate, roomy accomodations, great staff!

    Cons

Closing time a little early on weekends

    by: Ilovedogsandcats

I don't believe this place has a loving attitude towards dogs. In my opinion, animals are not always treated well and I would never recommend it. During my experience there, I caught the owners in several lies and watched dogs (that are somone's pet) being verbally abused and being treated with a heavy hand..for lack of a better word. When potential customers came in, the attitude was all sweet and nice, but anything can look good on the surface. I would recommend anyone who is considering bringing their pet here to check it out thoroughly and see how their pet is after a few times if you decide to leave them there which is a choice that I would NEVER make!!!

    Pros

    They have a building

    Cons

I wouldn't set foot in that place ever again!!!!!

  • 5. Good groomer

    by: rvpr525

All things considered with a day of play, the cut comes out nice, my dog has never been injured or anything like that, so I'm happy with the groomer.

    Pros

Do what some might call extras such as ear cleaning, teeth cleaning

    Cons

never files the nails smooth-need a less abrasive file, somewhat pricey compared to others

  • 6. After much research I chose this day care

    by: rvpr525

I love this place. I trust that take good care of my baby. They are nice dog loving owners who also rescue some dogs. They always know my dog by name even though I only use their services once in a while and for grooming. They give great updates and make sure the proper information to contact me just in case. It is really a great place.

    Pros

Packages can be used in half days and weekends dates are considered half days

    Cons

    none

    by: Debj

I've been taking Chelsea there since April '07. She attends 3-4 days a week. She is a rescue and is shy around people but loves dogs! The staff is aware of her concerns and has been extremely helpful working with her. Their Services are very accomodating (pick-up from home).\r\n\r\nHighly recommended.

    Pros

They are dedicated to dog rescue; make sure the staff is constantly being trained

    Cons

    staff is very young
