  • 1. Pretty Good

    by: nanseasm

This would be a safe place to leave your pet, but it does get crowded and there is little one on one time. My only big issue with this place is that the workers dont actually get too involved in outdoor play and the dogs are all thrown in together by size and so some scuffles do happen, which is expected, but I have left my dog at another place who takes a more gradual approach to putting dogs together and they have nearly no scuffles. So if you have a big dog that is also scared of big dogs this may not be the place for your dog.

    Pros

    knowledgeable owner

    Cons

    crowded

  • 2. Hit or miss

    by: pingham

I know a number of animals who have gotten very, very ill while at the doggie daycare. While some of the staff are GREAT, I'm not sure all of them are very well trained.

    Pros

When things are good, they are good at CC

    Cons

But when they're bad, they're bad.

  • 3. The best Puppy play place ever!

    by: annemariesharp

Two of my dogs stayed here a few times. The older one loved it, but my doxie got home sick, so we haven't used them since. Otherwise, I would use them whenever I go out of town. They have a fantastic play area and a very knowledgeable staff. Dogs are always well supervised. Their prices can seem steep, but for the service they are providing, it is well worth it. Above all, they truly care about animals, and recently provided funding to the City of Bloomington for the new Karst Dog Park! They rock! Be sure to make your reservations early if you need to use them, as they tend to fill up quickly!

    Pros

    Friendly, clean, knowledgeable

    Cons

    Very busy

  • 4. All Around Care

    by: magrowdon

We've tried several day care places for our dog but this is by far the best. We actually found this place because of the training offered to all levels of dogs from puppies to high end agility or specialized doggy work training. I believe they even work with police dogs! \n\nThe owners training philosophies are well thought out and well executed. We have taken our stray dog from shy and stubborn to a well behaved and well socialized coonhound that she is now. Many people are happy with a dog learning a few simple obedience tricks like sit and down but Canine Companions helped us get Chira to be able to run off leash by our sides as well as respond well even when surrounded by many dogs. \n\nI only hope that there is a place like this wherever I end up next.\n\nCheers,\nMark\n

    Pros

Everything is here for your dog. Best care I've seen. Great boarding and training place.

    Cons

On busy holidays you must book far in advance or risk not having a spot.

  • 5. They have everything.

    by: MegRose

I think this is a great place for one stop shopping so to speak. They have daycare, grooming, boarding, and vet services. The manager and the owner are very knowledgeable about dogs and about how to run a business. I think this is a good establishment. Plus they raise money for Bloomington Animal Shelter. They also take the extra dogs the shelter doesn't have room for and will board them until they can go back to the shelter.

    Pros

Having everything you need for your animals.

    Cons

    Need more space.

  • 6. Canine Companions is great

    by: nroales

The veterinarian is very kind and takes the time to answer all your questions. Everyone has been very kind toward me and my cat, and I've never had any problems. The facility is clean and the doggie play ground looks quite impressive (although I haven't used it since I only have a cat).

    Pros

The wait is always short and the vet is friendly and kind to my cat.

    Cons

There are a lot of dogs (of course) so if you have a cat, he/she could be scared by all the barking.

  • 7. great job!

    by: cewing

I love Canine Companions and all the services they provide. Dogs get to be outside, and the staff are very professional. The only thing I've noticed is that my dog always comes back mysteriously wet from doggy daycare. Other than that, love them!

    Pros

    convenient, one-stop services

    Cons

    none

  • 8. We couldn't live without CC!

    by: abortner

Canine Companions is my life saver! Our dog Adea loves going there and the staff is always so amazing. From grooming, to daycare, to regular vet visits, everything I could ever need for my babies is all under one roof. The staff is extremely helpful down to the smallest detail. (Including double checking my dog's birthday for me!) I highly recommend their services in all areas! Well worth it!

    Pros

All in one service! Daycare, grooming, boarding, and a vet all in once place!

    Cons

    Narrow hours on weekends

  • 9. Everything your dog dreams of!

    by: mgrowdon

Canine Companions has everything—Doggie Daycare, boarding (including luxury accommodations), training and obedience classes, and their own veterinary staff. The staff are very friendly, and make it a point to remember the dogs' names. They say hello to Chira by name, even on unscheduled drop-in visits. The facility is very clean, and the rates are quite reasonable compared to other similar services in the area. The training classes are run by the two owners, Brian and Brian, who have both trained search and rescue dogs as well as plenty of other animals. Chira is a coonhound, and stubborn by breed, but responded beautifully to the style of training at Canine Companions. She is now 98% reliable off-leash. This is a fantastic service, with a great, dedicated staff, and is always my number 1 pick for all Chira's needs!

    Pros

friendly, helpful staff; one-stop site for all your doggie-needs

    Cons

    no accommodations for cats

  • 10. The best dog training in Bloomington

    by: kyockey

Canine Companions is a great place! Their training just can't be beat. I think Bryan Bailey is Bloomington's very own dog whisperer! He's so knowledgable on everything canine. They offer different training options that are suited to you and your doggie's needs. And they not only have training and obedience classes, they have doggie daycare, boarding services, grooming services, and animal hospital! It's your one stop shop.

    Pros

    Professional, knowledgable staff

    Cons

More expensive than Pet Smart training, but worth it!

  • 11. Eddie and Canine Companions

    by: gkneelady

When Eddie & I first moved to Bloomington, I was really concerned about finding him a comprehensive boarding/daycare/vet service. I was also prepared to be very picky about it, since I'd had such a great experience with service at his last vet in Kentucky. I visited, toured, and weighed the pros/cons of just about every place in town before settling on Canine Companions. I loved being able to observe Eddie in the small dog play area via the website when I was away, and I was very impressed by the staff & facility. It also means a lot to me when Eddie is remembered by the staff. He always comes back to me in good health, and I've been happy when I've voiced concerns to the staff and those have been addressed immediately.

    Pros

Staff is familiar with my dog and me; my instructions are followed faithfully; great customer service & follow-up when concerns reported!

    Cons

Costly, if boarding over a period of time- but worth it. Plan your money accordingly!

  • 12. Dr. Jones and Staff are great!

    by: kaciejo

I take my two dogs to Canine Companions for veterinary care as well as training and have always been happy. They are reasonably priced, knowledgeable and polite.

    Pros

consistent employees that know your name; focused on dogs; offer grooming, boarding, day care, training, and vet care

    Cons

  • 13. Convenient location and hours

    by: annejose

Canine Companions offers many services (boarding, grooming, doggie daycare, etc.) and is conveniently located across from the animal shelter. We've used both boarding and daycare services before. The daycare is great! The dogs get plenty of exercise and human interaction, and we can watch them online from work to make sure they're having a great time (which may be a con for our boss if that hinders our productivity at work!). However, we boarded the dogs once, and they came back smelly and filthy from urine, which had never been the case from previous boarding experiences at other locations. This may have been due to a shortage of staff for dog-walking... Overall, it's been positive with the daycare service though.

    Pros

Convenient location, "Doggie Cam" online camera

    Cons

Dogs came back smelly after boarding
