  • 2. Nice Shelter

    by: wylie1

This is a nice shelter. I appreciate the no kill policy and realize this is why it is fairly pricey to drop off an animal. I also appreciate the fact that potential pet owners are screened carefully.

    Pros

    Non kill shelter

    Cons

    costly to take strays too

I love the humane socity i go a lot with my friend Emilee who is a vaulnteer. the people and animals there are so sweet. I only wish all of the animals could go to a Great home to live their happy ever after. I know everytime i see an animal go home i start to get tears in my eyes. And when i go see some of the animals moslty cats who you know have been their most to all of their lives,it makes me cry. Its a great shelter and more people should go there and adopt. I have so much to say i cant fit it all so lets sum it all down to the BCHS is the best place for animals! It just needs a little face life :D !

    Pros

The animals are so cute and kind , nice workers

    Cons

they need a little more room to put more animals and bigger cages

  • 4. great place to get a new pet

    by: karen524peterson

Very nice staff, animals are well cared for and the staff does not pressure you to adopt. There is a lot of room for the animals to run outside. Rural setting allows for volunteers to safely walk the dogs.

    Pros

    clean facility

    Cons

    none

  • 5. good animal shelter

    by: beaner50

I went to Butler Humane Society with a friend a few years ago. They had rescued a bunch of dogs from a bad situation. My friend was interested in adopted one. When we got there they had all been adopted. We toured their shelter and it is a very nice facility. They had just added a new wing, which was very nice. They do a good job.

    Pros

    new wing

    Cons

    none

  • 10. This Humane society SUCKS!!!

    by: SD6Piper

I tried to adopt a pet a few years ago and was denied because I have four children and had planned to have the dog spend a minimal amount of time outdoors. I guess the shelter staff has a better knowledge of how big my family should be than I do!!! And as for letting the dog outside, we only planned to let it spend 20-25% of it's time outdoors, it was intended to be a primarily INDOOR pet! Idiots!!! I would never recommend them, nor will I return to that shelter.

    Pros

    NOTHING

    Cons

    EVERYTHING

  • 11. Dog shelter

    by: dogloverabby

I like the looks of the facility and the animals in this place but as for one of the workers I came in contact with I was not at all happy with her attitude or the comments she made about me.\r\n

    Pros

Very clean Facility and most staff seem very nice

    Cons

    The one front desk person

  • 12. Good for the Animals

    by: lambrhondal

I was very impressed when I read that each animal has a bed, blanket, toy and gets a walk. How fortunate they are for the ones in our so called shelter get the cement both in summer and winter! As a non profit , we are working so hard to help our animals and one day we will be able to provide a bed for each of these little furry friends.

    Pros

    Animals come first

    Cons

    NA

  • 13. Great place to adopt a pet!

    by: bgarbinski

Overall, I really like this shelter. My husband and I will definately adopt our next pet from this facility.

    Pros

This shelter tries to train the animals up for adoption to try to get rid of any "bad" habits the pet may have to make them more likely to be adopted.

    Cons

The staff may get a little too attached to the pets and push the ones they like on you.

  • 14. Wonderful Place

    by: colleen2k2

I started as a volunteer here back in April. I am now a part-time employee. What attracted me to BCHS, other than the animals, is that it is a no-kill shelter. I have been to other shelters over the years, and I can honestly say that this shelter is the best one I have ever seen. All the animals here are pampered and loved. BCHS has the best group of volunteers and staff that work with (and spoil) the animals until they find there forever homes. Butler County is very lucky to have an animal shelter as wonderful as this!

    Pros

    NO-KILL SHELTER!

    Cons

    none

  • 15. A loving place

    by: donajk

I began volunteering at BCHS in May. All the animals have beds, blankets, toys and every day get treats, walks and time outside in large runs. I even hear the staff wish them good night and say I love you as they leave the kennels each and every night. I was so impressed with the love and care everyone gave the dogs and cats that I recently accepted a job working at BCHS.

    Pros

How much everyone cares about the animals.

    Cons

    none

  • 16. New Kid

    by: wolfsnaps

I just recently started working here at the Butler Humane Society and I am humbled to see the many donations and volunteers that heed the cry that the animals cannot voice for themselves. I do my job not for the paycheck but for the sake of knowing that a loving person watches over these animals. Well, I don't think I need to worry about that because every single person that works here is doing their best for these poor homeless furballs. \r\nHere, I believe the animals come first, and finding them their perfect family is what its all about.

    Pros

    Animals come first

    Cons

    what cons?

  • 17. BCHS is Great

    by: beccaorpi

I volunteer at the BCHS as a dog walker and have always wanted to have a chance to say what a wonderful place it is. The facility is very clean and the animals are very well taken care of. It is obvious how hard the staff works and how much everyone there cares about the animals. I have been most impressed with the many outdoor fenced areas that the dogs have to run and play. It is so nice to walk around the grounds and always see a different dog getting to enjoy the outdoors like they are enjoying their own backyard. I looked into volunteering at a few different shelters and am very happy that I chose the BCHS. Keep up the great work!!
