Approximately six to eight million cats and dogs enter animal shelters each year, with an even number of pets being given up by their owners and those being collected by animal control agencies. Many of the shelters which take in and care for these animals rely on grants and the generosity of animal lovers and their donations to stay in business. The average cost of the most basic care for a cat or dog in a shelter ranges from $400-$700, not including special medical or training needs, so caring for these deserving animals can be quite costly. \r\n\r\nNow you too can make a difference and help fund your favorite animal shelter, simply by shopping online. We have teamed up with thousands of retailers and hundreds of pet charities to come up with a way to turn your everyday shopping into a charitable contribution. With each online purchase through PetGive, we will donate a portion of your sales total to the charity of your choice! Not only will your shopping be helping animals in need, but you will also have access to special savings and offers with leading retailers not available anywhere else! \r\n\r\nShop now and save a life!\r\n\r\nJust choose Bobbi and the Strays as your charity and help raise them money!\r\n\r\nwww.PetGive.com
Knowledgeable & Helpful
In the summer of 2005 I was received a noitice from Petfinder saying they had found the perfect pet for me. It was a short haired chihuahua named Charlie and applied for it straight away! As things turned out it wasn't met for me to have Charlie but the Shelter ( Bobbi and the Strays) invited me out to see two other chi's up for adoption and I\ndrove out to the Vetport at JFK to see them. \n\nEmmett (named Billy at the time) was one of them. I will never forget that day. He was a scrawny 5 pound little thing but despite being in a shelter and needing home he was the most lively little man. \n\nI fell in love that day and am proud to say that Emmett is now my heart and has been a therapy dog for three years! \n\nbobbi was gracious....and attentive to the dogs needs. my house was checked to make sure it was dog friendly and Bobbi checked in with me to make sure all was well. \n\nI will be forever grateful to Bobbi for rescuing my little buddy. Without her he would have gone from the puppy mill to the kill shelter where he was found next in line to be put to sleep. She rescued him and as I say I will be forever grateful.
None come to mind
Dear Bobbi, I hope I get to meet you in Florida and give you a big hug! I bet we are two of a kind. Good luck with zootoo and thanks for all you and your team does for the strays....strays rock! \r\n\r\nmany woofs and a hug from Randy, Stray Rescue of St. Louis
Bobbi and the Strays work tirelessly to save and get pets adopted. They are so dedicated and they make sure that every animal gets a good home.
Staff really love the animals
they are so busy-but that is good for the animals!
I could not have had a better adoptive experience than at Bobbi and the Strays. What a great staff. I hope they are able to repair their facility though.
Supporting and knowledgeable staff
cool guys,\nyou are doing a great job!\nI had my own dog from a schelter in Italy and I'm glad to see that there are other places that respects animals and treat them right.\nKeep working like this.\n
these guys are just great
none too far...but just from me!!!
This is not my first experience with a dog shelter, and I can say they are clean, professional and motivated,\nas I said.. simply the best in NY!!
Great Great Great!
I met Bobbi (founder) a few years back when I just happen to stop by her rescue center as I was walking through Atlas Park in Queens. Her warmth and love for animals resonated from within her immediately. I knew she was the real deal when it comes to rescuing those precious creatures. Hearing her story, made me want to assist in any way I can. So till this day I support her cause with monthly donations. Last year I hosted a Dinner/Dance Charity Event which was a success and I look forward to repeating this type of event this year as well. Anything to assist Bobbi and her Strays....\n
Honest, good hearted, wonderful people running Bobbi & The Strays....
Needs a bigger facility to accommodate all her rescued pets!!!
I had the pleasure of having Bobbi and a few of her volunteers help me in rescuing a sweet pitbull that was dumped of the Nassau Expwy. They took her in and they shower her so much love and attention! But then again, they do this with all of the animals in their shelter! I will always be there for them!
THEY LOVE EACH AND EVERY ANIMAL WITH ALL THEIR HEARTS!
NO CONS, THEY JUST NEED MORE SPACE TO HELP MORE ANIMALS
I have several friends who volunteer for Bobbi. They are the most dedicated bunch and will do anything to rescue any unfortunate animal that they may come across. I absolutely love Bobbi.\r\n\r\nAslo, they do not only do the dogs und the cats but I've heard from my daughter that they occasionally rescue other kinds of animals as well.
The people are very nice and helpful
Sometimes they are too busy
They are a wonderful organization. I like to see the kitties in the window. If I weren't slergic I'd give them all a home!
Works for animals
My cousin got her dog from Bobbi and I went with her the day she picked him up. What a great group of folks here, always willing to help and really made a new pet owner feel at ease
A little goes a long way with Bobbi
If you are looking to adopt a pet in the NYC metro area, please come and visit this shelter. The animals that you see at the shelter are just the tip of the iceberg. A lot more are being housed and taken care of by the volunteers themselves. \r\n\r\nI am not involved with Bobbi & The Strays, though I know a few friends who are. Over the years I have observed the shelter's activities up close more or less as an uninterested observer. Since they are a pretty much a volunteer group, don't expect too high a level of business school style professionalism, yada-yada-yada. Instead, you can expect the staff to be very passionate and dedicated in what they are doing. \r\n\r\nSometimes, I think they take on too much work and could probably operate more efficiently if they were to triage their resources instead of trying to do too much. Yet, I would not expect them to do otherwise - they are indeed mad people on a mission to save every animal they come across. \r\n\r\nAs for myself, even though I was not looking for a pet I ended up adopting a cat that went through this shelter's system because I just happened to see him and somehow I knew that the he was meant for me. You too, might find the ideal pet at this shelter, so I urge you to come down and take a look!
Plenty of animals to adopt!
Not enough space.
I know that they would be able to help so many other animals if they had a better shelter. I am praying with all my heart that you guys get a makeover. God bless you all for the work you do day in and day out!
Great people and animals
The shelter needs a lot of help
I know some of the volunteers. They sure are dedicated. They got me to join this site to help their shelter out. Why not - the volunteers are great - so Bobbi and the Strays must be great.\r\n\r\nI would recommend this shelter just for that!
why is this required - there are no cons
My son and his family volunteer for this organization. Through them I am also a volunteer because I sometimes help them keeping animals comfortable and happy while they are being transported. If they had lots of space, so many more animals could be helped.
The animals are loved
Not enough space to help more dogs and cats
You will not find a more dedicated group of people helping animals anywhere. Bobbi and the Strays works so hard to make sure the dogs and cats they have a good quality of life while they are waiting to be adopted. They work with them on behavior issues, take them to classes and give them plenty of TLC. When a potential adopter comes along, they make sure that the pet is going to a great home. They really are a wonderful rescue group.
The most caring volunteers
like most shelters..they need more funding.
There is a Bobby and the Strays in Glendale also. Same ownership. The staff takes a lot of care to make sure the animals are well cared for and to make sure they will find good homes.\r\n\r\nThey have no problems turning down people who are not able to provide the right environment for a pet (use your imagination). They will answer any question and will give you an honest opinion about the right pet for you.\r\n\r\nAmazing way to give a deserving animal a home, and to not worry about needing to spend a fortune to get your new friend started in life.
They really care about the homes the animals will get.
They need more donations.
Bobbi and the Strays is a wonderful organization with devoted volunteers. They will go all the way to save animals and place them in good homes. Everyone in the area knows the organization and it receives a lot of support.
very caring volunteers who are devoted to the mission
If some of the reviews on the site show anything it is that Bobbi has quite a following of great volunteers that are there trying to help.\r\n\r\nI can not really compete with what Brenda wrote - you need to read it - but by knowing Brenda I also know that Bobbi is one amazing indivdual. \r\n\r\nI wish Bobbi, Brenda, and all of her volunteers, as well as the dogs and cats that she helps, the best of luck now and in the future.
won't let me leve this blank. it should be blank
If the volunteers that I know at this rescue group are any indication - then Bobbi and the Strays has got to be the greatest thing out there. \r\n\r\nThe staff and volunteers are truly dedicated. Bobbi herself is amazing. Just a great group of people that are trying to help stray animals. \r\n\r\nI hope that zootoo does whatever they can for this rescue group. The deserve it.
This group is really great. The people that volunteer to try to find cats and dogs homes are really amazing. I mean anyone that helps animals are just amazing anyway.\r\n\r\nI hear that Bobbi herself is a fanatic and that she works tirelessly to help these animals almost 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. I have no idea how she does it. But she is a great lady. \r\n\r\nI hope that Bobbi and The Strays wins this contest that zootoo is offereing. They need all of the help they can get. Good Luck to them!
people are amazing
I don't think that they have any
A great place to help the unwanted animals of the area. Also pit bull friendly!
My friend volunteers for Bobbi and the Strays and if she is choosing to volunteer there this group must be a good one.\r\n\r\nShe works very hard in doing events and projects for the shelter. If other volunteers even work half as hard then this shelter has some great volunteers. \r\n\r\nBobbi and the Strays is a good place to adopt an animal too. \r\n\r\n
Bobbi and the Strays should win the zootoo contest. They really deserve it and need it probably more than some others. \r\n\r\nThey do a lot and help so many animals. If they won the contest they could help so many more animals. \r\n\r\nSo please stop by their shalter adoption center and go to their website to see the great cats and dogs for adoption. \r\n\r\nOne reviewer was talking about some of their events. I have to check that out. I am sure they will be great.
I have gone to Bobbi's great Halloween Party and it was so much fun. I will definitely go again.\r\n\r\nThe party was organized and the music was great. I met some great people there too. \r\n\r\nI am going to go to a Comedy Night they will be holding in Manhattan and I can not wait for that. That will be fun too.\r\n\r\nSo this rescue group is great. They help animals and help me have lots of fun.
great rescue group
it won't let me leave this blank
The people who volunteer for Bobbi and the Strays are what animal rescue is all about. They care so much about their animals and their cause. They work tirelessly at fundraising, adoption days and promoting responsible pet ownership. As a result, so many animals that would have otherwise been euthanized are given a second chance.\r\nThey are truly wonderful people.
They need funding
Bobbi and the Strays are a great group. Like Little Shelter, they are a member of the Mayors Alliance for NYC's Animals and save many dogs and cats from city shelters. Their volunteers are always friendly and ready to help. We've dealt with them on many occasions.
Need more volunteers and space
They do such a great job and do not discriminate against pit bulls.
helping so many animals, pit bull friendly
A great shelter that is helping the animals in the community. Great pit bull advocates too!
For the space this place has it uses it well. The staff is great and they treat the aniamls well. They seem to really care and make sure each aniaml finds the best home possilble for it.
Wish it was a bit bigger
This staff of this organization is very knowledgable, skilled and show a great love of the animals they care for. They could definitely use a shelter make-over although they work well with what they have.
My very first job was at Bobbi & The Strays at the Vetport location. I worked there for the entire summer and was paid thanks to the L.E.A.R.N. program (Board of Ed.). Working there took a lot of time and energy but it was well worth it because of the great staff and most importantly, I was a part of such a great cause:saving stray dogs. \r\nIt was a great pleasure working with the animals and it is an experience that I am very proud to talk about. Although I only worked there for one summer, I believe it made my love for animals grow even more. I can truly say that I enjoy devoting my time to loving and caring for pets.
The shelter is always committed to the care and protection of the animals they save
there is very limited space and money is always tight. Renovating their facilities is something that has been difficult to do because money gets very tight each month
Blessings to Bobbi and all at 'Bobbi & the Strays' team who are so dedicated to the hard work of rescuing, treating, fostering, finding homes, cleaning, organizing, on and on...non stop...all of the joy and heartache, stress and relief all rolled up in a mere moment. Animals will never ever be sad again when they are found and taken in by 'Bobbi & the Strays' gang.\nxxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxxoxoxoxooxoxoxo
Dedicated, Hardworking pure Love for the Animals.
Need at least 1 'Bobbi & the Strays' in every city in America.
You guys do such a great job taking care of the homeless dogs in the NY area! Keep it up! p.s. I love all no-kill shelters.
bobbi and the strays is an exceptionally caring group of people who rescue, help heal, and (hopefully) find homes for scores of animals who, through no fault of their own have been discarded too often. they would love to able to help more animals, but have limited resources. donations of money would most certainly help. what they really need is more space. please have a heart and help this great organization.
beautiful staff, too great a selection of pets.
need bigger space to expand services.
We adopted our dog from Bobbi and the Strays and the people couldn't have been greater. They were very patient with us and were always available for answering our questions and making themselves available to us for pre-adoption visits. The Shelter is very clean and the animals are all well cared for. This is a quality operation from top to bottom. I would recommend them if you are looking to adopt a pet. They're just great.
Hard to come up with any
I have worked with Bobbi and the Strays and have supported the group over the years. Bobbi is dedicated and committed to helping every animal she can. It's an exhausting task but she never gives up. She has dedicated her life to the animals and I admire her so much. Unfortunitely because it's a small organization she's limited as to what she can do. Queens, NY doesn't have a NO kill shelter so smaller organizations like Bobbi and the Strays are the animals ONLY hope. I wish there were more people in the world like Bobbi.
All proceeds go to the animals and NO KILL shelter
No space, needs more room. Shelter makeover would make a world of difference
I know that this rescue has worked very hard to save the lives and then enrich the lives of the homeless dogs and cats by finding them the perfect home. If only some money were available to enhance the facility so that even more homeless pets could be placed. Keep up the good work!!!!!
I have heard wonderful things about the people who help rescue and place the animals.
none, except severe limitations of space.
I love that this is a no kill zone and they are really trying to help even though they don't have all the room they need to do it. I think with more room, they would become very successful.
small, and in need of more room
I had the pleasure of speaking with someone from Bobby and the Strays about a cat who I had rescued. Although there was a waiting list for my cat to get in there due to lack of space, they still treated me very well. The staff there go above and beyond their duties to help whoever they can, and trying to save as many lives as possible at the same time.
caring, determined staff
needs more space to help more animals :)
Like all shelters if we only had more we could save more. Also is there really a no kill shelter. When a no kill shelter turns away an animal,, that animal has a good chance of being put down at the kill shelters..\r\n\r\nso I really dont think there is anything like a no kill shelter..\r\n\r\nMaybe one day when breeding is under control and everyone s/n that are not a certified breeder..
helps homeless dogs and cats
No Kill ?
One of the many groups out there trying to save animals' lives one animal at a time.\r\n\r\nI'm happy to be supporting their bid for a shelter makeover!
Caring, wonderful group
Every time I go to Atlas Park I have to look in the window to see the animals. Even when their space is officially closed you can watch the volunteers inside working with the animals--cuddling them, cleaning their cages and letting them run around to have some exercise.\r\n\r\nThe volunteers are terrific.
They really care
We adopted our little dog (now called Oliver) in April '07 from Bobbi, and have become avid supporters of her and her wonderful volunteers. They take very good care of the animals, and were very helpful to us in recommending a vet, groomer, trainer, etc. Bobbi and her staff are more than a rescue organization - they have built a real community.
Very caring people, who also care to match the right pet with the right family
None - they are wonderful to work with
Bobbi and the Strays cares about the animals. These people who work there and volunteers dedicate their time to saving poor defenseless animals who need love.
this is THE best shelter ever i have been volunteering here for a couple of years and it is just the best place with the most real people you will ever meet! =D
everything is a pro here XD
we need more volunteers!!
I know people who volunteer for this shelter and I'm amazed at how hard they work. They're always on call in case of an emergency and they give up huge parts of their life to save a life. Great!
not enough money or room
Bobbi and the Strays is the best shelter in Queens. They really put themselves out to try to rescue animals. I'm glad they take the time to care and do so much good.
The best volunteers
Keep up the great work! I love what you are doing!
Nice..\r\nwe can save animals
they really and truly care about their animals and they treat them so well.
great enviornment, they really care about their animals and they treat them very well.
wish I lived closer!
You are the best! The constant care and love that you give to the animals in your shelter is a testament to the type of community you live in. Your community is behind you, good luck! Keep up the good work!
understanding, caring staff
needs a good makeover.
I agree, they are great with the animals, they provide lots of loving. Always agree to take the animal back, if rather than, letting them be abondan again.
I like to say that what bobbi and the starys are doing a great job.I would like to thank them for the difference that they and other are making for those animals that need it the most .Keep up the good work.
It's Great what they are doing!
none i can think of
Because of my girlfriend, I started to volunteer at Bobbi and the Strays. I always liked animals but never realized that there were so many homeless and neglected animals that need homes. The caring staff and volunteers really helped open my eyes and made me want to help out.\r\nThey take in all types of animals. As long as the animal needs help and they have room, they will take the dog or cat. If they don't have room every effort is made to find a foster to hold the animal. They then advertise like crazy on the websites and newspapers to find them loving permanent homes. I have seen my girlfriend work 7 hours at the shelter taking care of the dogs in the freezing cold, even in the middle of snow storms. They scrub the cages twice daily, the dogs get walked four times a day plus play time in the small runs, they get treats and toys, comfy beds. The staff plays with the dogs and pets them. Then she goes home and works on the internet for more hours trying to find them homes. Then on weekends she and the volunteers who all have day jobs take the animals to Petco or another place to show the animals and raise awarness. I never met a group of more dedicated and hard working individuals.\r\nIt made me realize that I can do something too to make a difference. I try to volunteer as much as time will allow. If more people cared like they do, the world would be a better place for animals.
Goes above and beyond for every animal
not enough space
this is the best shelter! everyone does whatever they can to make sure that all the animals are well taken care of and all fend the perfect loving homes =D
If I was an animal and ended up homeless, I would hope I would end up here. The staff really cares about the animals and really gives their hearts to them. They find the right home for the right animals which is so important so that the animals can go home forever.
This is a space that is rich in people willing to bend over backwards to help an animal, but poor in resources and room. They are doing wonderful things with what they have, but can you imagine how much more could be done if there was more room. Miracles could happen.\r\n\r\nHelp this deserving shelter win.
Great bunch of people willing to go the extra mile
NOT ENOUGH ROOM!
Bobbi and the Strays is a wonderful organization supported by a wonderful group of dedicated volunteers. They have been able to connect with other pet people on a number of levels that brings even more value to the organization. There is a core of vets, groomers, and trainers that also contribute to the success of this shelter by offering free and/or highly discounted services. The willingness of businesses to donate some of their profits is a credit to the organization.
Friendly, caring people. Good core of volunteers with a broad base.
Needs a better physical space to complement the "emotional" space.
im writting to tell you that on behalf of bobbi and her strays there is a lot of heart love & hard work that comes from the loyal volunteers like frannie and brenda samide ... the love that bobbi and her volunteers have for these animals seems to be unconditional and the hard work neverending ..these women make this world a better place for the defensless animals that are sometimes left behind for reasons that are many ... prehaps we can learn also to give up some of our time... give up some of our money that we might spend on a starbucks & instead donate to bobby and the strays ....\r\nGod bless you guys
Heart of Gold is what Bobbi and her volunteers have.\r\n\r\nShelter is clean. You are always greeted warmly and her staff is very knowledgable and very kind to the animals.\r\n\r\nI love Bobbi.\r\n\r\n
Bobbi and her crew are GREAT!!!!
she needs more room so she can help more critters get into good homes.
I do not personally know Bobbi and The Strays; however, I have a friend who volunteers there and has nothing but good things to say. I trust her views = )
For the animals
I love volunteering for Bobbi & the Strays. My \r\nmain job is taking pictures of the animals. The \r\nanimals are so well taken care of. They are loved\r\nand fed and groomed. I give Bobbi much credit \r\nwith all she does. Before adopting out a pet, they\r\ndo house checks. They make sure all the medical\r\npapers are up to date, and if they don't care for the\r\npeople adopting, the answer is no. We have many\r\npeople bringing in their pets if they find one, or they\r\ncan't keep it for some reason or another. "No" is a\r\nvery hard word when you see these adorable \r\nanimals. It's been over a year for me volunteering\r\nand I love every minute of it.
There is so much love and volunteers who know their job.
It's a very small space. We need a place for these animals to go outside and play.
Just love the no-kill approach to helping animals.
great staff and great mission
I don't know if I've ever met a more dedicated group of people in my life. Not only do we save as many as we can from NYC's high-kill shelters, they get the extra TLC they are missing by not being in a home. Our volunteers and shelter workers have been known to get inside a cage with a dog who is scared, just to hold her and reassure her that all will be okay - she is safe now and we will not rest until we find her a home. NO ONE is a "lifer". There is that special person for all of them. They aren't just fed - they get roasted chicken and treats too. We take them to obedience training class if they need some guidance. They get medical care, and extra food if they need to put on a few pounds from their hard life on the street.\r\n\r\nSeveral years ago when a homeless, 5-yr-old FIV+ kitty found me, Bobbi & the Strays was the ONLY rescue group that answered my many e-mails for help. They were able to guide me and help me find him a forever home, and that is why I started volunteering with them over everyone else.\r\n\r\nI am proud to be a part of something big as this, although what is small is the shelter space.
Saving lives every day from high-kill shelters & the streets of NYC
Not enough shelter space, very limited funds
In 2003 I adopted my dog Candy from Bobbi and the Strays. She was geriatric, in need of extensive dental work, overweight, and had a number of large lipomas. The shelter got her all the care needed and placed her for adoption. I saw her on the website and fell in love. \r\n\r\nAfter passing the aplication and home visit process we brought Candy home. She is still going strong more than 4 years later and is a delight. She is quiet and not very demonstrative but loves to lay quietly between my husband and I on the couch when we watch tv. \r\n\r\nI am so glad there is a shelter like Bobbi and the Strays that gives animals like Candy another chance at a good life. Thanks Bobbi!!!
A kind and caring environment
They are concerned and loving! Help them in any way you can!
Great people, loving & caring
Need help to make their shelter more wonderful
I adopted my dog from Bobbi and the Strays. I am so lucky to have him and I've never been happier!\r\nBobbi herself came to our house to meet us and see our place to make sure that we were a good match.\r\nShe really cares about her animals!
I got my puppy there!
I love the fact that bobbi and the strays love to help animals that can't help themselves. The give a second or third chance. Why just kill these aniamls because no one at this moment wants them or because there present owner may not want them anymore for whatever reason, Bobbi and the strays are there to give back. To give a helping hand to a pet on it's last days. Where would they be if it wasn't for yous. God Bless and keep up the excellent work. I'm sure these pets love you and are gateful for it all. \r\nJasmine
Bobbi has a great operation going.\nShe has a well organized shelter\nwith a great caring staff and volunteers\nbut it is in desperate need of rennovation\nand perhaps even a move to a different \nlocation. The location is so difficult\nfor people to get to. It is in the cargo\narea of JFK airport.
Great organized shelter with a lot of love.
Not a great location for potential adopters to get to.
IT TAKES A SPECIAL PERSON, ONE WITH A LOVING, CARING HEART, DEVOTED TO GODS HELPLESS, ABUSED, AND UNWANTED CREATURES TO RUN A SHELTER LIKE THIS.\r\nTHE SHELTER IS CLEAN AND THE EFFORT TO MATCH EACH PET WITH PEOPLE THAT WILL BE RIGHT FOR THEM IS TREMENDOUS. THE AMOUNT OF TIME AND LOVE SPENT WITH PETS THAT HAVE SPECIAL ISSUES IS EXTRAORDINARY. I APPLAUD AND ADMIRE BOBBI AND ALL WHO WORK WITH HER FOR THEIR TREMENDOUS CONTRIBUTION TO SAVING AND PLACING THESE VERY SPECIAL PETS WITH VERY SPECIAL PEOPLE, THAT WILL GIVE THEM BOTH THE LOVE THEY SURELY DESERVE.
100% NO KILL-LOVING KNOWLEDGEABLE STAFF-COMPLETE DEVOTION TO ANIMALS
the staff really cares about dogs and cats.\nthe shelter is clean and the pets are very\nwell cared for
friendly staff who really loves animals
I volunteer for this organization and have to tell you that everyone really cares about the animals. They go above and beyond to do what needs to be done, even if that means taking in extra animals into their homes when they're already stretched to their limits. Bobbi and the Strays desperately needs to have a larger space.
Not enough space
I've been to the Vetport to help someone transport an animal a few times, and have seen the hardworking staff in action. I also make it a point to stop in at Bobbi's adoption center whenever I'm at The Mall, and the animals are always well taken care of.
People who truly care about the animals
Not enough space to help more
Bobbi and her staff go out of their way to match you with the perfect pet. They extremely careful to match the correct pet and owner. They take the time to make both feel comfortable during the whole adoption process.
Very caring and concerned for both Pet and new owner
facilities not large enough
A couple of years ago I was able to help rescue an injured Collie from the side of the Grand Central Parkway. We called everyone we could think of and the only organization that was willing to help us find a home for this sweetie was Bobbi and the Strays. \r\n\r\nOne hand washes the other, so we became volunteers for this organization and our lives have become richer for it. We've learned a lot, gotten to know some very nice people, and have even broadened our personal outlooks from being "dog" people to becoming "dog and cat" people. Through fostering we've gotten to know, help, love and enjoy more animals in two years than most people would in four lifetimes. \r\n\r\nThere are so many animals in need, and so many people desperately trying to help them, but one of the biggest obstacles, besides the constant battle to raise funds, is space to house them. Bobbi's space is very limited, and even with her network of foster homes, there are still times when there is no room at the inn. Bobbi has a number of dogs in her care that have been guests of her shelter for several years. They are loved and cared for but are waiting for an especially patient and understanding family to give them their forever homes. These dogs are guaranteed this safe and caring environment for however long they need it, even if it's for the rest of their lives. \r\n\r\nSpace. With more space more lives could be saved.\r\n\r\nPlease help Bobbi to get the additional space she so desperately needs.\r\n\r\nThank you.
People who are willing to go the extra mile to help an animal.
Not enough space.
Bobbi and the Strays is an extraordinary place where dogs and cats are rescued and rehabilitated so they can be placed in good adoptive homes. Animals are groomed, given proper medical attention, lots of love and affection, sometimes also obedience training, to socialize them as part of their transition from traumatized animals to happy, healthy pets just waiting for the right home. This is a very special group of people and that results in a very special group of animals who will make wonderful companions and additions to any family. I highly recommend it!
Wonderful caring people, no-kill, animals always come first
Could use more money to support all its good work
There are so many things I want to say about Bobbi and the Strays. \n\nEveryone who I've met there has so much love and care for the welfare of the dogs and I really think that the dogs love them so much for it. Every thing that can be done to make the dogs happy and comfortable and give them some sort of normalcy are done for them and so it goes without saying that the workers at the shelter are some of the hardest working people I've met. They really give their all and I'm so glad that there's a place like this for homeless dogs. \n\nEven though it's sad that the dogs have to be at the shelter I see this shelter as a beam of hope. They make great things happen for animals and I hope great things can happen for them.
No kill, Clean, Lots of Love
Small space, Hard to get to
MY EXPERIENCE WITH BOBBY AND ROSE OF BOBBY AND THE STRAYS LEFT ME SPEECHLESS.THEY NOT ONLY ASSISTED ME WITH A SICK KITTEN FROMM TERRIBLE WEATHER, THEY DID IT WITHOUT HESITATION.THERE LOVE OF ANIMALS IS INCREDIBLE. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
the animals are treated with the love and care they deserve. every animal is important here. every animal deserves to be loved here. no one is ever euthanized. this is an animals' paradise. a great second chance for every animal that enters.
every animal gets a chance
Bobbi has helped me rescue a lot of stray cats & find them loving homes.
Helps a lot of animals
Bobbi is one of the hardest working person that I know in this rescue business. Her non for profit\r\nanimal rescue is on top of the list in New York. I have known her since 2003 and she keeps getting better and better in her fundraising for the animals. Her permanent staff and volunteers and supporters are true blue. Yes, people come and go, but the keepers are always there to help her and her animals who she loves so much. IF anyone deserves a nicer environment for a shelter makeover, it's Bobbi and her strays. I hope and pray she gets it!\r\nRose Casey\r\nsupporter\r\n
Animals are taking care of so well, kept clean, fed well, medications, great staff, volunteers, exposure to the public for adoptions
not the best location. Bobbi really needs a bigger, homestyle type animal shelter so they can feel like they are in a home more than a shelter.
Bobbi & the Strays cares so much about dogs! My dog, Astro, was saved from a kill shelter by Laura at Bobbi & the Strays. He is the sweetest little pup in the world. Thank you for bringing my little love to me!
No kill, clean, kind, caring
Location difficult to access through public transportation
Volunteering for this shelter has changed the way I am. Everyone that volunteers at this shelter is so caring, we need more people like them in this world. Bobbi as well as all the volunteers work SO hard to save animals every single day.\nThank you all for what you do
this shelter is great!! being a worker there i know how much love and care the animals receive! i know how hard we work to keep the shelter clean and the animals happy
great love and care for the animals
When someone mentions Bobbi and the Strays, they should not only think about Bobbi herself as the complete mastermind of the shelter but you should also take time to think of the top notch people behind the operation of the shelter as well. \r\n\r\nThe four people that come to mind are, Sandy, Tabitha, Laura and Kristie. All take care of different aspects of the "behind the scenes" operation but all 4 have something in common... The love for the animals and taking proper care of the animals and proper care in finding them permanent homes. All of them work day jobs but have such a passion for the strays that they devote all their extra time, every day to bettering this animals lives.\r\n\r\nOne word for that... Commendable!
Friendly people, wonderful animals, Sandy, Tabitha, Laura, Kristie
The dogs at JFK airport and very well cared for mostly by volunteers. The cats at The Shops at Atlas Mall, donated space, is excellent for cat adoptions but not for dogs. It is very sad to see an organiztion struggling so hard to place animals in good homes having to be in two locations. However, NYC real este makes it almost impossible for small rescue groups. The funding is just not available. However, with home checks and volunteers, still many animals would be killed if not for this rescue group. \r\n\r\nPerhaps a resourceful group or person that truly loves animals will take a closer look at this very popular rescue organization.
Good animal care
more space needed
