I really think Blue Mountain Humane Society has been doing great things. They now are dedicating themselves to finding homes for all adoptable animals and not euthanizing animals that might be able to find a home. As a previous volunteer, I know they do their best to get the animals socialized and give them as much attention as they can.

    Pros

Easy access to animals, interaction with them is encouraged.

    Cons

Not enough rooms for one-on-one interaction with an animal.

    by: mfpeggyj

Over the years, we have adopted several of our pets from the BMHS. They have always treated us with great compassion and have been very helpful. We have a hard time going in there and not coming out with several new pets each time. They have a very friendly and knowledgable staff.

    Pros

    Very loving and caring

    Cons

    Not big enough?

\nBMHS is a beautiful shelter facility. The new shelter has been opened 4 years, but the organization has been in the community for 40 years in 2007. The mission statement of the organization is,\n\n"Our mission is to prevent cruelty and promote kindness\nto companion animals in our community.\n\n"We are committed to eliminating the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable pets by ending overpopulation and homelessness. To achieve this, we provide quality shelter, spay/neuter, foster care, adoption, and re-homing services for companion animals in our community. We also provide spay/neuter and humane education, animal control services, and cruelty and neglect investigation services. In cooperation with our community leaders, we work to craft legislation and policies to ensure that companion animals have homes with responsible, committed, and loving caregivers

    Pros

    New facility

    Cons

    A little hard to find
