  • 1. Don't be deceived

    by: crazytoo1493

Obviously the only thing the doctor cares about is money. I could hardly walk out of the room before he was asking for money. They even charged me for services that had not been done yet. Don't be deceived. There are other places to take the birds with great doctors and half the price.

    Pros

They have lots of bird supplies

    Cons

    The prices are outrageous

  • 2. St. Louis is truly blessed to have Dr. Kersting, a bird specialist, to serve the area bird lovers

    by: rememberingromeo

My family is rooted in bird loving because my mother was so responsive to all of by brothers, my sister, and myself, when we found injured, sick, and baby birds; not to mention rescue efforts of other animals as well. Anyway, we appreciate birds in the wild and at home; we find our lives more full because they are in our world. They are such delicate and fascinating creatures, and they come in all sizes, colors, and shapes, and they delight us with such a complex variety of music, sound, and speech. It is that love and appreciation that has brought a number of us in the family to continue the legacy of bird rescue and parenting. And it is that history that has led us to seek out and find a specialist in bird medicine. Not too many years ago, you couldn't find a vet. to do much with birds at all. The St. Louis area is very blessed to have this vet. service.

    Pros

knowledgeable, excellent vet. and surgeon, great reputation in the area

    Cons

    none

  • 3. The place to go with your birds

    by: rabbitowner

I trust Dr. Kersting with our birds.

    Pros

Dr. Kersting has such a great knowledge of birds. He saved our one cockatiel when it was extremely sick with a GI infection.

    Cons

I am reluctant to do too many preventative tests.

  • 4. The best bird vet!

    by: rxkathleen

I have been taking my Quaker parrot to Dr Kersting for over 10 years. He is great with birds! The entire office staff is wonderful. We have boarded our bird and our beagle there and they are treated like family. We have been very satisfied with this office.

    Pros

    friendly, feels like a family

    Cons

    none

  • 5. Dr. Kersting, staff is wonderful

    by: marktommom

When we bought our first bird from a breeder in Illinois, he recommended Dr. Kersting, who turns out to be THE exotic bird specialist in the St. Louis metro area. He and his staff really took the time to get to know us and our birds, and have weathered a few minor mishaps with us as well. Early on, we did try another, closer vet, but were not happy with the way our bird was handled, and we have been with Bird Medicine & Surgery for 17 years. No animal likes to visit the vet, but visiting Bird Medicine & Surgery is always a treat for us humans.

    Pros

    Knowledgeable, gentle, patient, kind

    Cons

none -- well worth the drive
