  • 1. Still a happy family

    by: jerseybear

Pushed in the back area i think... I found Janye there 3 years ago. He is my amazingly hyper and protective German shepard Husky mix. I loved that the shelter was a no kill home for these animals. One thing i did not think highly of was the background of Jayne... I was told he was from a broken home but was NOT abused. When i got him home he had the signs of an abused dog or at least maybe one that had been around a lot of violence. He would hide in corners and be very vicious/protective of myself and my female friends when it came to having a male walk in the house. No matter size, shape, color, or clothing he did not like ANY man. 3 years down the line it's gotten a heck of a lot better but still kinda weary when it comes to him meeting any new male friends i bring in the house. Other than that The animal shelter in is wonderful and i hope they continue to make a difference in the lives of many familes.

    Pros

    no-kill

    Cons

out of site out of mind

  • 2. Not the only no kill

    by: kathrynnj

There are many no-kill shelters and organizations in the south jersey area. I am not sure why AAC says they are the only one. Either way, the people there have been nice to me every time I've stopped by. They seem to always be very empty though and they do not do offsite/fundraising stuff enough. I think they have ALOT of potential but are not going for it! They seem to be a 'forgotten' shelter. I think with some more help they could run alot more efficiently.

    Pros

    nice people

    Cons

    does not self promote enough

  • 3. Devoted staff

    by: brumah

This shelter has one of the most devoted groups of staff and volunteers. Please adopt!

    Pros

    devoted staff

    Cons

    needs $$

  • 4. I will never adopt an animal here again!

    by: majikkbutterfly

We adopted a Rottweiler from this shelter last year. He was sick when we first saw him so we had to wait 3 weeks before he could come home. We went to visit him almost every day and really fell in love with him.\r\n\r\nWe were told he came from a Rottweiler rescue. Once he was home with us everything changed. he became very possessive, very violent and even bit two people. I immediately took him back to the shelter and unfortunately due to the biting he was euthinized.\r\n\r\nCome to find out this dog had been found roaming around in Camden and was picked up and placed in another shelter. He was obviously abused after what we saw in our home. I just feel like they should be truthful to pet lovers about who they are taking home with them.

    Pros

    Many animals to see

    Cons

Very small area for cats and dogs alike

  • 5. No kills are the best

    by: jduchette

There is so much devotion at places like this. They all need help to expand their services.\n\nI wish that all animals could be so lucky to have help like this. We have so much power to help. I am so happy that no kill shelters are out there.\n\nI wish more people would look into a no kill shelter for a pet or any shelter for a pet before going to a pet store!

    Pros

    No Kill

    Cons

    none

  • 6. Unsure of Length of Shelter Life?

    by: Dede

I've always thought the concept of a no kill shelter is great, however, I worry about how a dog or cat could be suffering being kenneled so long. If one of these animals is seen to be suffering mentally, is there a volunteer or staff member at this shelter that then takes the dog into foster care? This is not anything demeaning to this shelter as we are all concentrating on one thing, and that is finding these precious orphans, new homes.

    Pros

    great concept

    Cons

    dogs tenure at the shelter

  • 7. loving shelter

    by: jhutnik

I think it's wonderful that this shelter will hold onto the dogs until they are adopted.\r\nThank god for places like this that try to find homes for the homeless dogs & cats!!!\r\ngood work!

    Pros

    Cons

  • 8. Only no kill shelter in southern NJ

    by: TheThompsonFamily

Kudos for being a no kill shelter. Unfortunately this is the only no kill shelter in the southern NJ region, animals here are long termers unless adopted, no real running/walking area for these pets. See many dogs pacing their cages.

    Pros

    no kill shelter

    Cons

longevity of sheltered/caged animals, need better push for adoption

  • 9. Great Shelter needs more recognition

    by: dacis420

I've adopted multiple pets from this facility, and could not be more pleased with my expierences with this shelter. I am so pleased that this place has so many dedicated workers that give it there all everyday of the year to give the animals all that they need and deserve. Without the people who work there on a daily basis, and the volunteers who come in regularly as well, these animals would suffer greatly. For all the work that these people do, and as much grief as they go through, they really don't get the recognition that they deserve. It is so nice to go into a animal shelter and to not be overwhelmed with bad smells or bad attitudes. The staff is so friendly and knowledegable. Please give these people the praise and the respect that they so rightfully deserve.

    Pros

    Wonderful Place overall!

    Cons

Needs to be more in the limelight for the work that they do

  • 12. A Wonderful Safe Haven for Animals

    by: tigergizmo

The Animal Adoption Center (AAC) is a remarkable NO KILL animal shelter. The staff truly care for both the animals and potential adoptive pet owners. Staff work hard to answer your questions and provide friendly, professional, and above all, animal friendly service. I appreciated how much staff interact with the animals. The staff person that my husband and I met with knew all the animals' names and we could tell they loved her time and the frequent attention she gave. During my first visit, I got somewhat lost and another staff person offered to meet me and lead me the rest of the way! It can't get any better than the AAC!

    Pros

    Friendly staff, well organized facility

    Cons

  • 13. Family recently adopted a dog

    by: charlotte5152

My mother in law recently adopted a Golden Retriever/ Basset Hound mix from the Animal Adoption Center in Lindenwold. The Director was very helpful. She loves each and every pet that comes to the shelter like they were her very own. The shelter is very clean and the dogs are very well kept. I know they have cats too but we weren't there for a cat. We appreciated all the help they gave us in adopting the dog. He's a very well mannered dog.\r\n\r\nThe dogs at the shelter are a little older than the average adoptable dog but they all need homes and everyone at the shelter is trying their hardest to find them all homes. They all need warm, loving homes because this is an outside shelter and it's getting cold outside. If I could, I'd adopt them all.\r\n

    Pros

    Very clean.

    Cons

    Outside

  • 15. This Place Rocks

    by: MyNamesNotHurly

I work at a Vets office and this shelter is in very often to either get the animals fixed before the send them off to a great home, or if unfortunately one of the animals isn't feeling well. They have always been so nice not only to the animals but to me and my whole staff as well. They will definitely go above and beyond just to make sure they find good homes for all the little kitties and puppies. Basically like i said before THIS PLACE ROCKS
