I've visited pet stores that smelled horrible and they at least have a full time staff of paid employees who are supposed to clean there. This shelter is working off of volunteer's donated time and they smell and look better than any place I've ever seen - shelter, store, pound, etc. How? Volunteers are at the shelter cleaning and visiting with the animals 4 hours a day 7 days a week 52 weeks a year. Including 5am on Christmas morning.\r\n\r\nEvery cage has not just food and water, but also blankets and/or toys and/or cat grass. The cages are good sized and every animal looks quite happy and healthy.

    Pros

no-kill policy, extremely clean, virtually no offensive smell compared to some pet stores even, animals appear very comfortable and taken care of

    Cons

currently office hours are by appointment only or catch as catch can

Dr. Rhea Dodd is a certified DVM and IVAS Certified Vetinary Acupuncturist and Animal Behavior Consultant. I have never felt better about my pet's care. She is professional, knowledgable , and she is very gentle in handling the pet. My dog is 14 and has horrible arthritis. She handled him really well, and she also gave me a lot of printed information about supplements, diet , exercise etc. I highly recommend her. She also does Chiropractic work with dogs. \r\n I found her through Dr. Randy Mc Carty (Firehouse Animal Hospital). She is on staff there every Wednesday.

    Pros

My dog's arthritis has improved considerably

    Cons

    none
