Punxsutawney Phil Predicts Longer Winter on Groundhog Day

America's iconic groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, emerged from his burrow Thursday morning and delivered some bad news to the Pennsylvania crowd that gathers every Groundhog Day -- six more weeks of winter!

This was unlike last year, when Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring, despite snowstorms around the country.

According to legend, if a groundhog sees its shadow after it emerges from its burrow on Groundhog Day, there will be six more weeks of winter.

Punxsutawney Phil's prediction, however, has been questioned by our furry forecasters to the north, as Ontario's Wiarton Willie and Nova Scotia's Shubenacadie Sam both failed to see their shadows this morning.
