Wellness, a pet food manufacturer, has issued a recall for a batch of their 12lb Small Breed Adult Health Dry Dog Food due to possible issues with elevated moisture levels.

According to the recall announcement, which was made via the Wellness Facebook page on Tuesday, " a small amount of our 12lb Small Breed Adult Health Dry Dog Food with the 'Best By' date of August 18, 2013… found to be higher in moisture than our recipe calls for." The Facebook post goes on to state that the high moisture may cause food to mold before its expiration date.

Pet owners who have purchased products affected by this recall may contact Wellness at (800) 225-0904 from 8 AM – 5 PM for a replacement. You may also reach the Wellness consumer affairs team via e-mail at info@wellpet.com.

I just spent $18.00 to get an answer about my mini dachsund, got the email saying the answer was available but when I went to the page it was blank - nothing. I rated it as bad as I had no answer nor could I type anything in the reply. Please either refund my money or give me some kind of answer. It was supposed to have gone to Dr. Barbara.

Dear Bannicks,

We would like to be of assistance, however, the "Ask a Vet" service is powered by JustAnswer, a third-party advertiser on petMD. For your convenience, the toll-free number to contact one of their customer service representatives is 1-888-587-8220. They should be better equipped to assist you.

Again, we regret any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Sincerely,

petMD Support
