ZuPreem Recalls FruitBlend Formula for Birds

ZuPreem, a division of Shawnee, Kan.-based Premium Nutritional Products, Inc. has voluntarily recalled its ZuPreemFruitBlend with Natural Fruit Flavors maintenance formula bird foods due to calcium levels possibly being higher than recommended.


The recall is limited to lots with the expiration dates 11/30/13 and 11/13 with the lot numbers 598405052 and 598405072.

Symptoms of excessive calcium intake include decreased activity level, decreased appetite, increased water consumption, and loose or watery droppings. If your pet shows any of these symptoms, immediately contact your veterinarian. In some cases, too much calcium can be fatal.

If you have fed this product, monitor your pet closely for symptoms, discard unused product and return the packaging to its place of purchase for a replacement or refund. All ZuPreem retailers, including pet stores, veterinary clinics, mail order and web outlets in North America and other regions of the world have been notified.
