Dogswell Recalls Chicken & Duck Jerky Treats for Dogs and Cats

By Courtney Temple    July 26, 2013 at 11:24PM / (0) comments

Dogswell has issued a voluntary recall for Chicken and Duck Jerky treats due to trace amounts of an antibiotic residue that has not been approved for use in the United States.

The following brands are included in this recall:

  • Breathies
  •  Happy Heart
  •  Happy Hips
  •  Mellow Mut
  •  Shape Up
  •  Veggie Life, Vitality
  •  Vitakitty

Affected products are those with “Best Before” dates of January 28th, 2015 or earlier.

At this time, no other products have been affected.

According to a press release issued by Dogswell, during a routine test performed by the New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets (NYSDAM) it was discovered that a sample of the listed products contained trace amounts of an antibiotic residue that has not been approved for use in the United States.

Dogswell notes that the remaining Dogswell and Catswell products still on the market are safe to feed (Best Before date of January 29, 2015 and later).
