Milo’s Kitchen, a manufacturer and distributor of dog treats, has issued a voluntary recall for two of its home-style dog treats due to trace amounts of antibiotics.
The recalled treats, which were sold nationally, include:
- Milo’s Kitchen Chicken Jerky
- Chicken Grillers
According to a Milo’s Kitchen press release, the New York State Department of Agriculture found trace amounts of residual antibiotics in several lots of Milo’s Kitchen Chicken Jerky. The use of antibiotics by food production companies is a standard practice to keep chickens healthy and disease-free while raising them, but should not be present in the final food product.
After a careful review with the New York Department of Agriculture and the FDA, Milo’s Kitchen decided to recall both Milo’s Kitchen Chicken Jerky and Chicken Grillers because they are sourced from the same chicken suppliers. The recalled products are not known to pose any health risk.
