Tootsie is an approximately three year old, nine to ten pound Chihuahua mix. She was rescued from a high kill southern shelter, where she had been a stray. Tootsie was happy and charming from the moment the animal control office found her on the street. She was so sweet that the officer wrapped her up in his jacket, it was very cold, and allowed her to ride on the front seat with him, as he made other calls. He came to the volunteer office, when he arrived at the shelter, to make sure that she would have special attention, and not be euthanized. As Tootsie served out the time of her stray hold, she continued to be a delight. When anyone walked by her cage, she would jump up, "smile", and beg to be rescued. All the employees and staff could not believe that the owner of this precious little dog, did not come to redeem her. However, no owner appeared, and she was adopted by our rescue.
Tootsie is great with the eight other dogs in her foster home. She adores to cuddle in the chair and watch TV, and to sleep in the big bed. She is completely healthy, spayed, and up to date on immunizations. She seems to be housebroken, and is happy to go outside with her foster mom.
Whoever is lucky enough to adopt Tootsie, will have a loving companion.
