Meet Violot and her brother Vega! These two siblings were rescued after living their first year in the woods where a Good Samaritan came out and fed the homeless pups and their mother almost everyday. She looked tirelessly for a rescue group to take in the timid mama and pups, but in her area of coastal North Carolina, rescue groups are few and far between. After months of looking, the mama dog was shot and killed and the distraught lady finally found a rescue to take the two surviving pups. They had to be carried out of the woods and to their new homes. They had no clue how to walk on a leash or even feel comfortable taking treats from human hands. They were even unsure about all the affection that was being lavished upon them and both would flatten out like a pancake not having a clue what could happen next! Now, after a few weeks of excellent TLC, these two woodland babes are thriving and craving the hand-on attention that they have come to love! While lots of progress has been made, you can see from their photos that they were a bit camera shy and wanted to crawl right into the lap of the person with the leash, so new experiences can still be a bit intimidating for them. Estimated to be under a year old, Violet seems to be more flat coated retriever and weighs 36 lbs and has the softest wavy coat! And Vega, who looks more like a shepherd mix, is also estimated to be under a year old. He is a bigger fella at 51 lbs and is has that really soft coat as well. Please consider giving one of these young dogs the happily-ever-after that their mother will never have and that the kind lady fought so hard to give to them!
