An adotable dog in East Lansing, MI
VERY IMPORTANT: Please click the link below to read about our ADOPTION PROCESS & REQUIREMENTS. http://www.voiceless-mi.org/process/
UPDATE 12-10-13: Howard and Daisy have a pending adoption in a home where they can stay TOGETHER!!!
Howard is a SWEET Neapolitan Mastiff, 1.5 years old and around 110 lbs. He was found wandering with a female mastiff so together, they ended up in the county shelter. Eventually their owners were found but they were unable to reclaim them. Howard is just a big, lovable, goofy dufus! He is doing very well with the other dog in his foster home and the KITTIES TOO! He is a very sweet boy, a VELCO dog! He wants to be touching you all the time. He appears to be housebroken but he will counter surf :-) He doesn't really care for a crate but he getting better about it. He has also been non-destructive when left alone. Howard will do great as either an only dog or, with a compatible female. Howard has just been neutered, fully vaccinated, dewormed and tested heartworm neg. If you are not familiar with the Neapolitan Mastiff breed, PLEASE do your research. While Howard is very submissive, Neo's in general are not for first time dog owners and generally require a strong handler. And.....they DROOL!!!!!!!!! And Howard is no exception......he is usually very slobbery :) So if you demand a white glove clean home, then a Neo is not for you. While Howard is very submissive and easy going, we prefer any children in his new home be over the age of 8. Homeowners and fenced yard is required.
UPDATE 11-16-13: Howard has to undergo extensive plastic surgery on his eyes to correct a severe case of ectropian. It's caused by excessive skin folds (wrinkles) in his forehead causing the upper eyelids to turn inward and rub his eyes. His case is pretty severe and can't be done by normal veterinary surgeons so it's being done by an opthalmologist at MSU. Thanks to a VERY generous donor, we will have the surgery scheduled soon!! So Howard isn't quite ready yet but we would love to have his home all lined up in advance! In case follow-up care is needed, we prefer Howard remain within an hour or two drive of Lansing, MI.
If you are interested in Howard, please use the green ADOPT ME icon above to send us an email! Home owners only, fenced yard required. Adoption fee: $400
