Flock Guardian Dog MOOLI
Sheep Dog, Mix
An adotable dog in Abbotsford, BC
Adopted to Glade BC February 24, 2014
Do you and your livestock need protection against bears or cougars? Mooli is a lovely female Bhotia brought back from a remote village high up in the Himalayan mountains where the bhotia are used to protect the goat and sheep flocks from bears and leopards. The bhotia or bhutia is a well known dog of the Himalayas and is also known sometimes as a Himalayan Sheepdog. She is neither a Tibetan Mastiff nor a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever but the flock guardian dog of the Himalayan mountains in Bhutan, Nepal, Tibet and Nepal. (Petfinder only provides the options of kennel club breed choices in their listings).
Mooli is extremely gentle and loving with people and children and dogs that she is familiar with. As a flock guardian dog she is an alert barker and will raise alarm if she scents bear or other wildlife. She will then bark away the intruder. Mooli is four years old and deserves to live a life on a larger property where she can serve her true role in life to look after her people and livestock. Mooli is spayed and vaccinations are up to date. AAIDD is a non-profit animal rescue located in Abbotsford BC. Adoption fees go towards airlifts of street dogs from Delhi and shelter costs.
