An adotable dog in Rockaway, NJ
You've all seen the other picture of how Scotty arrived at Henry County AC, how terribly matted he was, posted by Eleventh Hour Rescue on their Facebook page. When AC picked him up as a stray, the vet happened to be on site. It took 2 shots of tranquilizers and about 4 hours to cut that mat off him. To say it's terrible, is a total understatement. Update from Scotty's foster.... When I took him from Henry County AC, he was scared still. Bert carried him to the van and placed him in the crate to go to the vet. Scotty and I sat there for a while, getting to know each other. Then off to t he vet. When we got there we talked through the gate for a bit, then I opened the door and we talked some more. He totally loved the 2-handed under-chin scratch. He let me pick him up and we talked some more. While I'd been warned he was very resistant to a lead, he let me slowly put a slip-lead over his head and tighten it up. All was well. In the vet's office he did wonderfully and as the minutes went by, he relaxed more and more. He let them draw blood, get a stool sample and take a rabies shot. Before we left the exam room, he was already climbing up on me looking for love and giving hand kisses. At some time in his life, he was well loved and he remembered it. Never have we seen a dog come from being so very scared to asking for love is such a short time. He's going to do real well. Now the not-so-good news. HW+ Hookworms (treated) Good lungs and heart sound. 19" Over 1 year old and less than 3 based on slight tartar on teeth and the fact he's HW+. but is currently half way through his treatment. This is a dog who deserves all the love & TLC he hasn't received in a very long time. If you think you could provide Scotty with a loving, safe home then complete an adoption application & be sure to mention his name. http://www.examiner.com/article/horribly-neglected-dog-discovered-georgia 11/13/13 Update from Scotty's NJ foster...Scotty's weight is 20 lbs. This little love bug has the whole package- looks, personality, charming and athletic. You would never know he's been on such a tough road. Don't be fooled by those distinguished eyebrows, he's still a silly little boy that loves to play with toys and be chased by dogs and people. He'll also play alone if needed, tossing the ball himself and going after it. He walks gently prancing on a leash strutting his stuff...Very relaxed on car rides...Warms up to new people quickly. He's happy to sleep in bed with you if you don't mind being awakened with lots of kisses but if you pick him up, or he gets anywhere near your face, kisses are mandatory. He is more than ready for his forever home! If you'd like to meet this remarkable little pup, please complete an adoption application & be sure to mention his name!
