Going somewhere? Pugsley wants to go, too!
Pugsley is a total lovebug looking for a lap to call his own. Although he appeared not to have received much affection in his past, he has blossomed into a typical, lovable Pug in the loving care of his foster home. This senior boy is super sweet and mellow, perfect for someone who wants a velcro dog that wants to be near them- or better yet, touching them- most of the time. His most favorite thing is to be near his favorite person. He loves to go for car rides, or anywhere his person is going.
Pugsley is a real "people person". He is fine with other dogs, but he doesn't really care about them, and doesn't seem to "speak dog" very well - he has trampled over his foster sibling in his eagerness to get to his beloved foster mom or food (in true Pug style!).
Pugsley is crate trained, but still needs a little work on his housetraining. He is starting to learn some obedience training, like sitting nicely for food and treats. Although he enjoys walks, leash training is a work in progress, and will need to be continued in his forever home. He has also displayed some minor resource guarding behavior- growling when he has something especially valuable. Like all dogs, he will benefit from some further training in his new home.
Pugsley does have some common issues of senior Pugs, like dry eye, arthritis and some issues with his teeth. He is on a grain-free diet and takes over the counter eye drops and supplements which will need to be continued, and has a prescription mouth rinse that will have to be used for an indefinite amount of time. His vet has also recommended preventative antibiotics every other month for his poor teeth. His new family will need to be conscious of keeping him slim, to help keep arthritis and breathing problems at bay.
