An adotable dog in Aurora, CO
Lily is a 5 year old, Tan, Tibetan Mastiff/Bloodhound Mix who looks like a fluffy version of her mom, the bloodhound, but emotionally she's all Tibetan like her dad. She is house trained, crate trained, leash trained and knows 10 basic commands, including sit pretty and rollover. She is a very accomplished young lady who has passed her Canine Good Citizen Test and is very obedient and loyal to her humans but she does require a strong leader. True to the Tibetan breed, Lily is leery of strangers and will require an experienced owner who can provide a structured environment and manage her properly. She will require slow, proper intros to all new people when meeting for the first time in the home and can also be somewhat reactive when on leash in public. Once the meet and greet is done, she seems to have no problems allowing anyone to be in her space, but she takes her job seriously. She loves other dogs and is quite playful and has also lived with cats and children, although we are looking for a child free environment due to her protective nature. Lily is not a digger or a chewer, but she does bark to alert and is reactive to strangers and skateboards. She doesn't get up on furniture, loves stuffed bones and is a healthy girl who loves broccoli and carrots as special treats. Her family was moving to Mexico and didn't feel she could handle the heat so they made the difficult decision to surrender her to rescue, although they loved her very much and worked hard to set her up to succeed working with trainers, behaviorists, and making sure she go out for socialization at doggie daycare and obedience classes for socialization. She will make a wonderful dog for someone familiar with this breed and looking for a guard dog and loyal companion.
