Fergie & Lizzie (bonded pair)

Maltese, Mix

An adotable dog in Furlong, PA

  • Adult
  • Small
  • Female

Fergie and Lizzie were rescued together from a puppy mill in Missouri where the two girls were confined to a cage their entire lives. We believe they lived in the same cage since they came to us very bonded and like to sleep curled up together. They have lost everything they know and all they have now is each other, so we'd like to keep them together.

Fergie was born on Oct 13, 2005 and weighs about 8 pounds. She is the girl shown in the picture that has some grey/silver in her coloring. Fergie is a bit shy but she comes around quickly and once she gets to know you, she loves belly rubs!

Lizzie was born on Oct 26, 2006 and weighs about 7 pounds. She is the ilttle girl that is more white/cream colored. Lizzie is more shy than Fergie and will observe how Fergie responds in new surroundings and will follow Fergie's lead. Once she gets comfortable, she will come to you for treats, but she is still a bit uncomfortable being picked up and will freeze up.

Both girls are very kind natured girls that are non-aggressive. Once comfortable, they both have silly personalities and will run and chase each other around the house. They get along great with other dogs although they are not crazy about more wild-natured dogs that play too rough.

These two girls are very precious and have had such a rough life, so we'd really like to find them a home where they can enjoy the comfort of each other.

The girls are not crazy about walking on a leash so they'd do better in a home with a fenced in yard. They are working on potty training which is a foreign concept to puppy mill dogs. They are doing pretty well with pee pad training.

We are not a shelter, we are 100% volunteer public charity. All of our dogs are in foster homes until they are adopted. To meet one of our dogs, please fill out our adoption application which you can find on our website at www.dutchcountryanimalrescue.org/adopt.html

Our adoption fee is on our application. Since we are not a shelter, we do not receive government funding. We are a public charity that relies solely on funds through our adoption fee, fundraisers, and private donations. Since we are 100% volunteer based, all funds collected go directly towards the rescue and vet costs of our dogs. Special discounts apply for bonded pairs so please inquire about their fee.

All of our rescues are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on rabies and DHPP, heartworm tested, and have received dewormer and flea/tick prevention.

We take each rescue personally and spend a lot of effort trying to match the right dog to the right family. Thank you for considering one of our rescued dogs.
