An adotable dog in Louisa, VA
If you follow us on our facebook page, you will remember Jinx as Junks (because that is what his owner called him when surrendering him to the Shelter). He was absolutely terrified at the Shelter! Considered a senior at 9 yrs old, Jinx was not going to last long at the Shelter, no one wanted him. But all our volunteers fell in love with him! What a charmer! If you want a quiet mannerly companion to be your best friend, snuggle near you when you watch tv or are on the computer, follow you around while you do your house chores and outside in the gardenâ¦we got your boy right here! Jinx is about 58 lbs, thought to be a pit/hound mix, VERY DOCILE, low energy level (satisfied with a couple of walks on leash), LOVES to NAP, eat, hang out with you and nap. Jinx really enjoys going out for walks and going to the park. He does great with other dogsâ¦maybe a little chase game, but mostly just wants to be friends, and then, yep, you got it, nap time. Sometimes he even enjoys a toy or two with a little play, and thenâ¦yep, another nap. Crate trained, house-broken, good in car, pulls only moderately on leash, and very laid back. Jinx just ignores catsâ¦.boring!...and is very calm with kids; may not interact with kids (like fetch or tug of war) but likes to hang out and watch them. This is a GREAT grandma/grandpa dog, good with everyone that visits! Yes, heâs oldâ¦No, heâs not a fluffy lap dogâ¦but you will NOT find an easier, more laid back, loving, affectionate dog anywhere! Guaranteed love. Jinx will bring you unconditional love, companionship and comfort. Easy-peasy keeper.
Jinx's adoption fee is $150. Jinx is completely vetted; neutered, heartworm tested negative, up-to-date on all vaccines, plus rabies, and bordetella (kennel cough), wormed, deflead, and currently on heartworm preventative meds as well as a flea/tick preventative.
If you are interested in meeting Jinx, please fill out an adoption application at www.louisahumanesociety.com, click on the âpawâ for Adoption Application. Once submitted, the vet reference you provided will be contacted (if no vet, please provide 3 personal references, may be family and friends as long as they have a dog that you interact with), and a volunteer will schedule a phone interview with you. Once approved, you will be contacted by the foster parent to discuss the animal and arrange the logistics for a visit. Our rescue group does not have a brick and mortar facility, all our animals are home fostered in our volunteerâs houses. You will be visiting a private residence. The application does not oblige you to adopt, nor does the visitation; the application just gives us more info to help ensure a good match.
Our policy is that we always take our animals back should it prove to be a less than perfect match, or if you are unable or unwilling to care for the animal any longer. We just don't want the animal to go back into the system.
Thank you for considering an unwanted and abandoned dog, and being part of the rescue efforts.
