Baton Rogue Mt. Mama

Labrador Retriever, Mix

An adotable dog in Millerstown, PA

  • Adult
  • Large
  • Female

Good day to you. My name is Baton Rogue Mountain Mama, and they call me Mama. I am a no-
nonsense gal. No frills! I am straight forward, so, let’s get on with it then.

I was roaming in the mountains for some time with my friend, Bama (Alabama), who got lucky
and was adopted awhile ago. I’m not sure how long we roamed, but it was over 2 weeks that
humans reported sightings of me and Bama as we moved closer to the road and out of the
woods. Humans tried to catch us, but we held them off until Bama and I tangled with a
porcupine. Nasty critters! I got the brunt of the attack. Bama gave in to the humans who were
trying to help us before I did. I chose to tough it out, but I grew weak and sick as infection started
taking its toll. Finally, I was caught and to the vet I went. I had many quills in my face, neck and
legs, and the quills under my front leg made me limp badly. All the quills were removed, the
infection is long gone, and I no longer limp. I feel and look great now.

I have been with the rescue now for a long time. I arrive 4/5/13. Coming up on 2 years now. I have had friends come and go. I keep hoping that soon it will be my turn

I like taking walks with the humans at the shelter who say I’m real sensitive and responsive to the
leash. I wait patiently for the shelter humans to put on my leash. I like walking WITH them
actually. Oh, I am not crazy about cats. KIDS are OK. Nice little people. I’m not into playing
because I am a SNUGGLER at heart, love being petted, love Gentleness.

My humans at the shelter can’t figure out why I haven’t been adopted yet. Am I too old? Here’s
the thing, they tell me. I have a fine solid Labrador body. But, they say my face is, well, kinda like
a Grizzly Bear? Actually, a Teddy Bear (what does that mean???). They say they love my face
but that some humans might not? And maybe because I’m older?

I would love a family of my own to love and who will love me back. I’m a real solid good dog.
Maybe not a raving beauty to some, but my heart is HUGE Hope to hear from you soon. I am
waiting patiently so PLEASE consider me for your new best friend. You won’t regret it, I assure
