Boston Terrier

An adotable dog in Philadelphia, PA

  • Young
  • Small
  • Female

Please say hello to the photogenic Brune. She is your quintessential redhead. Smart, fiery and funny. Well her foster family thinks so….(being there is another redhead in the family as well).

Brune is a 1.5 year old liver and white Boston Terrier who weighs 16 lbs and is spayed. She was turned into the shelter due to seizures as the family could not afford to care for her. She spent a night at the shelter and that was enough for her thank you very much.

SNORT has made sure she is on just the right phenobarbital dose and is doing just great, seizure wise. She will need to probably be on the medication for the rest of her life and it has to be given two times a day. This is critical of her new family to adhere to. Her foster family have alarms set to make sure she never misses a dose. The medicine is not cost prohibitive so her forever home should easily be able to afford it.

Brune is still a puppy in many ways. She probably did not get a lot of attention nor learn basic manners. She is working on her housebreaking and also will need obedience training which would be a great fit for her to bond with her new forever home.

Brune will need to be in a home without small children. She could nip if startled and that is typical of a dog that has a seizure condition. She can be jumpy but some good training will help with that.

She does not like to be left alone and will cry and bark for a little bit but settles in. She is learning all about the crate and doing well with it, but she has her moments. She sometimes throws temper tantrums and will destroy the blanket or bed that is in the crate.

She would prefer that you be home a good portion of the day, and needs regular bathroom breaks. She thrives on consistency and also needs stimulation for her active mind. If not kept occupied with her chew toys she could become destructive, she is still a puppy in her mind.

She loves to go for walks and would appreciate a yard to explore in as well, and if you have a ball to throw even better! She likes to cuddle and will stay with you once you are settled for a nice nap. Brune prefers the companionship of adults and older children and would do best as an only dog in her home. She also chases the foster cats and would be best without any cats.

Brune is excited to learn about life and have a great forever home maybe with a furry sibling or two! Brune's adoption fee is $450. If you are interested in giving this fiery redhead a forever home, please submit a SNORT Adoption Application!
