Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie, Mix
An adotable dog in Deer Park, NY
Update 11/6/13: Test results are in -- I AM DOING AMAZING!!! The medicine I am on (very inexpensive) is working perfectly. Not only have I stopped drinking and peeing excessively, ALL MY HAIR HAS COME BACK!!! Dr. W could not believe how handsome I am. She told everyone that I am the 'comeback kid' and that there is still a long life in this boy. I do need to lose a few pounds - my foster dad loves to feed me - but other than that, I am ready to be adopted!!! Please give me the warm loving home I desperately want.
Update 7/30/13: So I was recently diagnosed with Cushings Disease and am being treated with medication that should help me feel less hungry and less thirsty. Now that we know what is wrong with me and I am on the right treatment, I can have a happier life. Please consider adopting me and giving me the best years of my life in a loving home with a warm bed and lots of treats!
Update 6/2/13: Guess what? I'm feeling so much better and having fun in my foster home. Prior to arriving in rescue, I was a stray and learned how to find food by ripping garbage bags apart and knocking down garbage cans, which isn't easy when you are an Australian Silky terrier mix! I ate food that wasn't good for me, like chicken bones and spoiled leftovers. I remember being sick and sleeping a lot but now I am happy to report that I am much better! My foster siblings have lots of toys and I LOVE playing with them! I like to make them squeak really loud.... SQUEAK, SQUEAK, SQUEAK! I also like walking around carrying 3 of my favorite toys, 'Mr. Hedgehog', 'Mr. Squirrel' and 'Mr. Monkey'. Every time I go outside, I like to take a toy with me. I really do hope that my furever family buys me lots and lots of toys! (I would love them furever and ever if they do! Woof, Woof!) I have been eating 1-1/2 cups of dry food that is healthy for me, mixed with warm water twice a day and it's so very yummy. Oh and over the weekend my foster Dad discovered something new about me. He was fixing the inground sprinklers and when they turned on, I ran through them and rolled around on the wet grass! It was so much fun and the cool water felt so great on my hair! So you see, I am a pretty cool pup! Just ask the Rescue Squad! In a nutshell, I love to play with toys, eating yummy food and running through water! If you can provide me with the loves of my life, then please put in an adoption application for me at www.yorkie911rescue.com!
Update 4/16/13: So even though my name is Streaks, my foster family calls me Foxy because they think I look like a fox. My foster Mom said that while I currently have a 'scruffy look', with time, I am going to be one handsome boy! I am such a good boy and will make a perfect pet for someone. My foster family can't say enough great qualities about me... I am very calm, sweet, quiet, housebroken, well behaved pup who is good with other dogs, good with kids, etc, etc! I just like to be near you and am very content to lay next to your feet or just hang out on the couch. I am a great little boy... well, not so little. I am a bit on the larger side... but hey, that's more to love! Please put in an application for me so we can be together furever!
Woof Woof! My name is Streaks and I am a male Silky Terrier. I was found as a stray with a belly full of small bone fragments. The doggie jail thought I needed surgery and additional care so they called the Rescue Squad for help. After some explosive diarrhea and a spa day to clean me up, I visited the dogter to have an x-ray and see what was going on with my belly. The dogter determined that surgery was not necessary (phew!) but put me on IV fluids and antibiotics and I was diligently watched for 2 days. Everything seemed to be going well so I returned to the dogter to be neutered and an additional checkup. All is well! I am a friendly, affectionate boy looking for a furever family to love me. I am fairly new to rescue but have so far been getting along with men, women and children. My adoption fee is $250 and you may fill out an adoption application at www.yorkie911rescue.com.
