TOO CUTE FOR WORDS!
Hello! My name is Walter and I think I'm sheltie mixed in with a bit of Papillion. Everyone says I am ADORABLE! I'm a cuddle bug and very silly.
I lived with a hoarder in Brooklyn until this nice rescue came along and saved me. I am a snuggle bug, but I also like my own time. My foster mom laughs at me because the other dogs in the house usually don't go to sleep until around midnight, but come 9:00, I excuse myself to the bedroom and hope onto this really cool bed they have for dogs here that fits three, but I claim it early and sprawl out across the whole thing.
My fostermom also says Im the smartest of all the dogs in this house! When it comes time for treats to be handed out, the others are going crazy, jumping up and down and barking. But I just sit quietly in the background because I know if I just sit and wait, my fostermom will come over to me and hand me my treat. And every time she says the same thing; "Walter, you're the smartest one here!" I don't need to get involved with that craziness! But I do like the company of another dog since that is really all I have known my entire life. I enjoy playing with the others and chasing them around the yard. I am fine with cats.
I cannot go to a home with small children. They scare me. I know I'm cute, but please don't ask to adopt me if you have children under the age of 14. I tend to get attached to the core people in the home and don't want anything much to do with strangers.
I'm spayed, had a dental, I'm currant on my vaccines and microchipped. I'm a good boy and come when I'm called and ALWAYS wagging my tail. I still do get scared of some things, so I need a fenced in yard for my safety. I am crate trained, but I don't need to be crated because I am a good boy and have never had an accident in the house. I also do not destroy anything. I do like to lay on beds and couches and I like to play with my toys.
Please contact Tri-State Sheltie Rescue if you want to hear more about me. tristate.rescue@gmail.com.
Thank you!
Walter
***** FENCED IN YARD AND ANOTHER DOG IN THE HOME ARE REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS DOGS ADOPTION. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

UPDATE: 11/7/13 from Walters foster mom:
Walter is still available for adoption! He's modeling his new sequined winter parker because he's a stylish kind of guy!

Walter is a Sheltie/Papillon mix, about 12lbs and the last of two dogs from the Brooklyn hoarder still looking for a new home. Why is he still looking? While he is probably one of the coolist dogs I've ever fostered, Walter isn't too fond of strangers. He needs to get know people and trust them. If i'm not home, he is absolutely fine with whoever cares for him, and if we hand him to anyone to hold, he is fine. In fact one of our rescue members held him on her lap for a few hours in the car, he was wonderful and the next day she came back and he barked and wouldn't go to her again. He is weary of strangers.

Walter is sweet as can be, a huge cuddle bug, loves to play with other dogs, likes to go to bed early at night ( he puts himself to bed about 9pm every night - too funny!) and wake me up every morning. He is 100% house trained and crate trained, though he does not need a crate. He gets car sick so we are working on that.

If interested in this guy, please contact sheltielove94@aol.com.
Walter definitely needs a fenced yard (5 foot fence please - he can jump!) and due to his being uncomfortable with strangers, a home with no children without a lot of in and out would be best.
