I'll have what she's having.
I started off this week feeling like I was going to burst with energy. It may just be my imagination, but I think I've lost an ounce or two since starting Halo last week. I've even started to notice some of the boys sniffing in my direction as I pass by. I've put this newfound energy to good use and renewed my membership at the David Barkin' Gym in South Beach -- all the beautiful dogs go there. Grrr, and Haute Studs!
Until recently I was too intimidated to go back to DBG, but I think the promise of all over beauty, inside and out, will help me to overcome my insecure feelings. It also helped that Happa agreed to join me for the "Doga" classes. I won't feel so self-conscious with him there to cheer me on and nip at my ears to stretch further.
The transition to Halo has been easier than I expected; in fact, I don't even want my old food anymore (hello, gross). My human is mixing my old food with the Halo food and I've been nudging the old stuff aside and pushing the bowl of leftovers back to my human. He's a little thick sometimes.
I love that he is giving me more wet food now, but I was really missing the regular treats I used to get. Just when I started to despair that I would ever have the pleasure of between meal snacks again, we went to PETCO and got some Halo Liv-a-Littles treats. Haute cuisine, without the guilt.
Toward the end of the week, though, I started to feel a little fluttery in my belly. I wondered if that was normal, so I called Dr. Donna Spector at Halo. Luckily, we didn't need a translator, since she speaks dog-lish. Not many humans grasp the intricacies of doggie speak, but Dr. Spector and I were pleased to find that we had a mutual acquaintance with this rare gift. More about that later.
I told Dr. Spector about my new gym routine, the unexpected attention from the younger poochie boys, and my nervousness about Bartholomew Bond's New Year's bash. Dr. Spector then asked if everything else felt normal (you know, those things a lady doesn't like to talk about). She said that some dogs have, ahem, digestive problems, and have to slow down on the transition to allow their bodies to catch up.
I told her that I did have a little outburst of gas while doing the downward dog in Doga class, which left me fairly mortified, but otherwise I was feeling okay. She assured me that it sounded like everything was okay, and that these reactions are completely normal and will abate over the next few weeks.
"Enjoy the butterflies in your belly," Dr. Spector said. "It means you're happy on the inside."
Happy, you say? I just realized I am going to need a whole new wardrobe. Happy my @$$!!!
Next week, we will be adding the Dream Coat supplement, which promises a shiny, sleek coat. Shiny, after all, is the new black!

Gordi will be fully transitioned to the Halo program by next week. She'll also be sharing her progress -- on the scale and in the world -- as she and Happa get beautiful for their New Year's trip to the South Pacific.
