Bo assumed command of the Hoefinger household -- literally within minutes of his arrival -- after the family sprung him from an upstate N.Y. “prison” (animal shelter) some sixteen years ago. For a shelter dog with no formal education, Bo exhibited laser sharp wit and keen insight into the human condition. (He's not a bad typist, either.) Today, Bo is still going strong and, more importantly, is still in charge.

So what better way to maintain his prominence than to write Bad to the Bone, a no-holds-barred romp detailing his wacky life with a constipated feline, chipmunk warfare, and the Hoefingers, his “parents.” It is sure to keep you on the floor laughing from beginning to end. And speaking of endings, this is one of the first pet-centric memoirs we've read that doesn't have some dog, cat, or even a supporting character going over the “rainbow bridge.” Sure, we love a tearjerker as much as the next reader, but sometimes you just need a good laugh.
