Contrary to public opinion we are not always nice, caring people (some of us really suck—trust me). Example: I know a vet who likes his animals dead. His preferred cases are well-baby checkups and geriatric euthanasia. These are situations he doesn’t have to think much about. They generate significant income. Moreover, they indicate excellent turnover in his practice, and he believes these visits bond the clients to him: "Remember when Dr. X euthanized Fluffy? He was so warm and caring!" This man lives for playing golf and for conferences so he can get some exercise screwing someone other than his own wife. Indeed, we’re not all lovely people.
