The saving grace of sick pet clusters is that they seem to arise at predictable intervals: after 5 PM, lunchtime, Saturday mornings, and Monday mornings, of course.
Cynical vets say it’s because pets get sick every day but they end up at the vet only when it’s convenient for the owner. Of course there’s some degree of convenience involved (as there is when you take your child or yourself to the doctor) but I tend to think it’s because we tend to notice that our pets are sick when we’re at home. Duh.
This is why emergency clinics exist. And God knows no one wants to end up there.
