Q. My 22 pound eight-year old Sheltie male is not capable oh even going up one star step. His appetite is not good and he seems listless. Med?
A. Before he is medicated, a vet exam is in order to deterine the reason for his problem. It is unwise ever to give any medication without the express approval of your vet, who knows the dog's history and general physical condition. Drugs such as aspirin, Advil, Tylenol, Aleve, Motrin and others are toxic to dogs and should be avoided. Your vet will recommend the proper medication based on an assessment of the dog's signs and symptoms.
