Q. Our golden is 6 months old and is still mouthing and bitting our feet and hands. We keep using Apple bitters, tell him "no", and leave it. Help!
A. Be sure you are not pulling your feet and hands away as he's biting, as this can turn the whole incident into a game of chase. Instead, push your hand or foot firmly but softly in the direction of his mouth. Be sure not to punch or kick him! A mouthful of hand or foot is not pleasant, and may deter him. You can also turn your back to him or simply walk away. Once he knows you are not going to engage in his game, he should stop. Make sure that, when you are saying "no" or ":leave it," you have no excitement in your voice, as this will just arouse him further. I would also suggest a good obedience class and recomend neutering.
