Q. My 4 lb Yorkie has had diahhrea for 2 days What can I do to help until I get him in to see the vet?
DR. CHRISTIE LONG, D.V.M., C.V.A.
A. Feeding a bland diet containing only white meat chicken, boiled with no seasonings or fat and white rice (also boiled) can sometimes provide fiber and "calm" the GI tract. Feed very small feedings (1/8 to 1/4 cup) frequently (every 2 hours) until you can get your dog in to see a vet for treatment. And if you can save a stool sample and bring it with you to the vet that will help him determine is the problem is due to parasites.
