Q. I have a 2 week old pitbull massive mix and she won't eat I bought the replacement milk from petco along with the feeding bottle but still nothing
DR. CHRISTIE LONG, D.V.M., C.V.A.
A. This can be a very challenging situation. Sometimes puppies won't nurse from a bottle and have to be tube-fed. It's critical to their normal development that they get adequate nutrition at this stage of their lives.
If you've never tube-fed a puppy you'll need to get a lesson on how to do it. It's pretty simple once you get the hang of it but you can definitely do it wrong (i.e. Pass the tube into the lungs instead of the esophagus, so make an appointment with your vet so that they can demonstrate how to do it. You'll also want to buy a gram scale so that you can track the puppy's daily weight gain to make sure that she's maturing normally.
