Q. Our cat has blood in urine and treated with Baytril but seems to be in pain. She is crying and walking in circles and cannot be calmed.
DR. CHRISTIE LONG, D.V.M., C.V.A.
A. Cats can have a reaction to Baytril, and at high doses it can cause blindness. Something is clearly going on with her, and she likely needs additional care. I'd add that UTI's are actually pretty uncommon in cats as young as yours, and I'd be sure that the vet is ruling out other things that can cause bloody urine, such as bladder stones and feline lower urinary tract disease.
