Q. The right front paw has swollen. There are blood spots under the skin throughout the paw.The cat is limping and isn't eating anything.Age-18 months.
DR. CHRISTIE LONG, D.V.M., C.V.A.
A. It sounds like your cat has sustained some type of trauma to his paw. The fact that he's limping is concerning to me, and indicates he's in pain. Don't give any over-the-counter pain relievers, as cats are very sensitive to the ingredients in products like Tylenol and Advil, and giving these drugs will cause a host of other problems. Get him checked out by a vet to determine the cause of the pain and the blood, and to get appropriate treatment prescribed.
