Q. Hot chocolate spilled on our. Dog.She seem to be fine she did cry but we washed her and didn't see any burns. Since then shes shaking and hiding
DR. CHRISTIE LONG, D.V.M., C.V.A.
A. From my own experience, burns start to hurt more several minutes after the original insult. Shaking and hiding are behaviors that dogs do when they are in pain, and I recommend you take her in for an exam to see if she needs topical anti-burn creams or a systemic pain medication. Burns can be quite serious and as chihuahuas are thin-skinned they may be more sensitive.
